@Arcadecabz @BradBiggs I think we can hold two thoughts at the same time. Changing the play with the clock running out was a boneheaded, oblivious rookie mistake. At the same time, Caleb’s error doesn’t excuse Flus from freezing and failing to correct the error. It’s not either/or.

@Arcadecabz @BradBiggs Yes, nobody looks good here, certainly not Flus. But still, if Caleb just runs the play as called and doesn’t waste time with an audible, regulation ends on a field goal try with no timeouts remaining and the clock doesn’t run out with everybody standing around like idiots.

@BradBiggs And Williams can’t have it both ways: it’s the coach’s call, not his, to call a time out, but it’s his call, not the coach’s, to change the play with the clock running out. Yes, he’s a 23 year old rookie and Flus should have saved him. But he’s not blameless.

@BradBiggs Firing Flus was right, but he’s not entirely wrong that his play call was the right one. If Williams doesn’t get cute and just runs the damn play, they’re in the game. They either get closer and call an immediate time out, or they try a 58 yarder.
