Memorial Day asks something of all of us - Not only remembrance, but responsibility. The greatest way we honor those brave men and women who gave their lives for this nation is to live lives worthy of their sacrifice. So today, let us remember, let us honor, and let us act towards building a nation worthy of the sacrifice we honor today.

When I took office, I made a promise: that the riverfront would be a place for every single person in Jacksonville. Today, we took another big step forward in keeping that promise as we open the Riverfront Music Garden and reopen a huge stretch of our beautiful Northbank Riverwalk! The Riverfront Music Garden is an interactive, living celebration of the incredible contributions Jacksonville has made to American music. One of the features I am most excited about is the "Walk of Fame" where plaques of thirty artists, musicians, and composers who shaped Jacksonville's musical identity are celebrated.
Thank you to everyone who had a hand in bringing these new spaces to life. This is what Jacksonville can do when we decide that our city deserves beautiful things.
The wait is over for the unveiling of the Riverfront Music Garden! Located outside of the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts. The Northbank Riverwalk will reopen, too! Come out tomorrow morning to see the transformation. 🎵

We are honored to be one of three communities recognized as a 2026 Great American Defense Community.
Communities are chosen through a nomination process based on community building efforts and collaboration with neighboring military installations. Thank you for this recognition!
The first ever Ironman Jacksonville is just FOUR days away! We’ll have more than 500 officers working to keep the more than 1,500 competitors safe while they swim, bike, and run across our city.
The race starts at 7:30 a.m. with a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River. Then, racers will trek the 112-mile bike ride through San Marco, the Southside, Nocatee, and Ponte Vedra. The race ends with a 26.2 mile run through Downtown and Riverside.
Be prepared, this will impact traffic along the routes all day on Saturday. Pack your patience and add extra travel time wherever you’re going. We’re working with our safety partners to keep everything safe and smooth.
If you’re planning on boating on Saturday, please know the portion of the St. Johns River between Metropolitan Park and Memorial Park will be blocked off from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Best of luck to the Ironman racers; we’ll see you on Saturday!
It was an honor be at @NS_Mayport and unveil the MQ-4C Triton "Spirit of Jacksonville." For 87 years and counting, there has been an unbreakable bond between the U.S. Navy and Jacksonville. Today’s naming ceremony exemplifies that partnership. We’re a city proud of our military heritage, proud of the men and women who serve, and proud to stand beside the families who support them every single day.
Five weeks ago, a kindergarten class from San Pablo Elementary School was on their way to the zoo when everything changed.
Today, they got that day back, starting with one very special stop.
At Station 37, crews were reunited with the students they helped that morning, this time healthy, smiling, and ready for their field trip.
It’s not something crews often get to see, and a reminder of what this job is really about.
Our goal to become the Small Business Capital of the Southeast is within our reach. This momentum is shown by the many companies that are choosing to launch, relocate, or expand in Jacksonville. Our city is a great place to do business, and we are proud to be nationally recognized for it.
This isn’t the time to take chances.
With dry conditions and a burn ban in place, even one spark can put lives and homes at risk. Mayor Donna Deegan, Fire Chief Percy Golden II, and Emergency Preparedness Chief Andre Ayoun are asking everyone to do their part.
Most wildfires are preventable. Use extreme caution with anything that could cause sparks outdoors, and help keep our community safe by following the burn ban.
Stay aware, stay informed, and stay JaxReady.
A countywide burn ban is now in place across Duval County.
Effective immediately, the @CityofJax and @THEJFRD are prohibiting all open burning, including bonfires, due to extreme drought conditions and wildfire risk.
Under this burn ban, ALL outdoor open flame burning is prohibited. This means:
•NO yard debris burning
•NO campfires or bonfires
•NO firepit use
•NO unattended open flames
This does NOT prohibit outdoor cooking in enclosed grills or smokers.
Anyone found to be in violation of the burn ban will be issued a citation by JFRD or the City's Environmental Quality Division. A violation of the open burn ban carries a $250 fine for residential occupants and $8,000 for commercial occupants.
This ban will remain in effect until further notice.
Even the smallest flame could put you, your family's, and our city’s safety at risk.
