Nah, I disagree with this take. KAT has been in the NBA for 11 years he’s not a trash center. Sure, there have been times when he’s played soft, but overall he’s had a good season and a strong playoff run.
The reality is that Wemby is still very raw. He’s an incredible talent, but he doesn’t have the polished post game of Jokic, the strength and physicality of Giannis, or the shooting touch of Embiid yet. This is only Wemby’s third year in the league, his first playoff run, his first Conference Finals, and his first NBA Finals appearance.
I’m not going to hold this series against him at all. He’s basically a young player learning on the biggest stage against experienced veterans. It’s like a brand new JV team going up against a seasoned varsity squad. The talent is obvious, but experience matters, and Wemby is still gaining that experience. Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t Chet. KAT is a proven offensive talent, and that’s part of why Wemby was able to dominate Chet cause Chet is raw talent as well still learning. On a side note, Wembanyama has shown that he can struggle against elite bigs who can consistently create their own offense.
Guys like Jokic, and a healthy Anthony Davis, and a healthy Joel Embiid ? would all present serious challenges for Wemby in a playoff series. Those are bigs who can score at all three levels. But once again I’m not holding this loss against wemby ima treat this like the 2007 bron Cavs moment like it didnt happen
The last three teams to win Game 1 of the Finals on the road all went on to lose the series.
The last team to win Game 1 on the road and win the championship?
The 2004 Pistons.
@florida_grand@dpshow I was at the game gtfo here bro. Knicks fans were yelling and screaming during I ng the singing of the National anthem and almost none of them removed their hats. A bunch of fake tough guys.
