Uriah Rennie established himself as a legend in Premier League officiating.
As the first-ever Black referee in the competition’s 33-year history, he remains a powerful inspiration for the BAMREF generation—the thousands of Black, Asian, and Mixed heritage officials who have been motivated by his achievements to reach for the footballing stars.
Uriah took charge of more than 250 Premier League matches, many involving some of the biggest stars in the domestic and European game.
He shattered ceilings in a space where representation was non-existent.
It is with deep sadness that we mark his passing. At this time, we celebrate his talent, his vision, and his fortitude as he navigated entrenched attitudes on and off the pitch, firmly etching his name into Premier League history.
We will pay tribute to Uriah at our annual BAMREF conference on Sunday, July 20 in Nottingham.
His legacy lives on in a cohort of Black, Asian, and Mixed Heritage officials who are ready, willing and determined to continue breaking barriers.
Thank you, Uriah, for your pioneering courage, your trailblazing career and your invincible spirit.
May you rest in peace.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary Roy Ayers. A true innovator, Roy shaped and revitalized the musical landscape across generations. His sound became the backdrop to every era he graced, with Everybody Loves the Sunshine serving as an anthem for so many of us.
@bt_uk Has anyone been given details how to complain to the MD’s office. 20 years plus with BT changed to Full Fibre . Took 6 visits from Openreach and Kelly Communications to get installed only to find we have been mis sold on the TV package. Disgraceful, awful BT customer experience.
