England has the highest infant mortality rate in Europe [3.9 per 1000] according to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Ever heard the BBC proclaim England as the 'Infant mortality capital of Europe'? No. That's because infant mortality hasn't been politicised.

The avoidable death of infants is as newsworthy as drug related deaths. Arguably more so. It is as demanding of our attention as drug related deaths. Yet it isn't treated with the same level of scrutiny nor given anywhere near the same political priority.

Why is that? Because drug related deaths, like the Scottish NHS, is a political stick wielded by a media with a political agenda.

The question then is why this figure was withheld from interviews? Why is a 10,000 figure being accepted without challenge?

The PISA results highlighted a major shortcoming within BBC Scotland News. It isn't equipped to scrutinise stories that demand scrutiny in order to be understood. Every reporter and presenter simply kept parroting the 'Scotland worse than England ... Scotland bad' line.

The PISA results were crying out to be interrogated. How did Scotland's poorest pupils do compared to the OECD average? Were the English results really as good as appeared at a glance? Were nuances missed? Does PISA itself have any shortcomings?

BBC Scotland blasted out a simplistic narrative every half hour on radio. It repeated it online and on TV. It platformed known agitators it knew would reinforce that narrative. There was a great deal of misinformation mixed in with the coverage.

The public were, once again, let down. Nothing of worth came from the BBC's coverage. Nobody at BBC Scotland had any interest in looking into the results to see what stories, successes and shortcomings they contained.

BBC Scotland has been throwing haymakers at the SNP ever since Scottish Labour collapsed in May. Glasgow has been caught in the crossfire and now we're seeing education traduced. It's England this and England that. Why are we not England!?

Swinney's programme for Govt has been attacked relentlessly. Every known SNP hater, critic, opponent and malcontent has appeared on programmes for sham interviews by presenters who lack the wit or desire to challenge them. The poor? The low paid? Who cares.

Maciver, Whyte, Maxwell, Stalker, Geissler, Millar, Irons and the rest serve up a mix of chuckle-head drivel and BritNat bias. The audience is deserting in their droves. Non-payment of the TV licence is surging. Jobs are being shed at Pacific Quay. Sadly too many will be the good guys.

The station is a mess and it's of its own making.
