Some really excellent news: the Government has today removed the "family worker exemption". Traffickers will no longer be able to defend the failure to pay the national minimum wage, or indeed any salary at all, on the basis that the worker has been treated as a family member.

@JFCrisp @ColinYeo1 A young woman recognised as trafficked/a slave who waited nrly two years for her substantive interview last Nov. She was refused this month & told she could go (with a baby, no resources) to a diff part of her country away from her family who trafficked her. Fair & just system

I've heard literally the opposite from multiple people who are in Calais today including Ukrainians themselves. They say they are told they must travel to Paris or Brussels to submit a visa application. Some can't even book an appointment online as says no slots are available
