🇬🇧Dr Yasser Adly Abdel Rahman was found to have mistakenly connected the patient’s small intestine to his stomach a procedure the tribunal described as “totally unconventional” and “not compatible with life.”

The error caused bowel contents to flow back into the stomach, leaving the patient in “uncontrollable pain” and unable to have a bowel movement for three weeks.

Despite the patient’s worsening condition, the surgeon reportedly told the family the operation had been successful. The patient’s life was saved only after another surgeon performed corrective surgery.

The tribunal ruled the mistake was “as bad as it gets” and found Dr Abdel Rahman guilty of serious professional misconduct. He was struck off after failing to acknowledge or apologise for the error.
