I will say, Human sinfullness isn't just an ad hoc dogma for Christians. People have been doing horrendous things in the name of Jesus for millenia now, so it aint just authority, its borne from experience.
If "Christian Nationalism" involved rejecting war since 'blessed are the peacemakers", outlawing interest since Leviticus 25, Proverbs 28, Matthew 25 all prohibit it. Forgiving debts and student loans since the Jubilee year is a biblical principle, it might be good. Doesn't tho
Delusional Evangelical Christians leap to biblical figure analogs for Trump and go to Cyrus.....when Ahab and Herod the Great are like RIGHT THERE as options.
@BudrykZack Its become popular because for whatever reason the phrase "committed suicide" will get you demonetized on different social media sites....and since its become more common language....its normalized by people active in those communities. Dont blame them, blame tiktok and Youtube
Buried in the back of this episode is what I take to be a solid point on the problems of a lot "normal" 'liberal' social political analysis....which is that a lot of 'left'(generally broadly culturally liberal) critiques of political philosophy dont argue for their own views

@Jaco_v_Z@ghostofchristo1 Sam Harris is an imperialist Islamamophobe, Hitchens' defense of the Iraq War has aged like milk, and Dawkins has become both intellectually blinkered AND transphobic
Among the most irritating habits of Evangelical apologetics I noticed growing up was its irritating habit of citing "worldviews" of its opponents while just presuming unanimity among its own. Christian views of ethics may not be relativist, but they arent unanimous either.
@leftofphil The critique at the end of political philosophers with bald faced assumptions they never actually argue for was brilliant, and in my view, spot on.
If the American Party and electoral system is serving no one in its polity, if it is now only an arena of corruption and exploitation and doesnt even superficially represent the views of the american people.....then its purpose is null and maintaining its existence is a waste.
@BenBurgis My feeling is that while we might now be in "overcorrection" mode, its a good impulse a political climate where people dont even seem to want to try to understand their opponents.
'For the Masters tool will nevet be able to destroy the Master's house'.....So....not only must we overcome the immensity of oppression...we have to produce methods ex nihilo to "correctly" do it.....Thanks for giving the oppressed more work Audre
I must stress that in *2022* 75% of *Democratic Voters* didn’t want Biden to be the nominee, & Democrats still shut down the primary bc they wanted the exclusive right to choose his replacement.
