The Tories ignored the prison system
Prisons are very overcrowded already and not fit for purpose and there is no capacity to take more.
You either leave the serious criminals on the street waiting years for a trial or reduce the prison population by releasing early the lower end offenders and increasing community sentences.
The proble with loud populist voices and egos is that they can make lots of noise but have no plans to address real issues as it is all just a 'front' and a massive ego trip
