@thevaccines I was fully convinced I’d have to go to the UK/Europe to see you live finally until you announced touring w/ the kooks and I happened to live in Toronto at the time.
touring is obv $$$ and it’s not a coincidence that the artist I’ve seen the most in my life is from Vancouver
@thevaccines Seeing bands I love who are from a diff country than me is a blessing as is. you came all this way to perform?? it took 11 years to see u live and I was living in a different city at the time. Then you came to Vancouver and played the best show of my life.
Today we want to take a moment to celebrate the women at Guerrilla and in the Horizon community! Here's to the incredible women who inspire us every day – Happy #InternationalWomensDay!

@izknowstheend before going back to school to become a teacher, my partner taught sexual health and consent workshops both at uni and professionally. it's a really big commitment to become a teacher, but it is really rewarding if you enjoy it.
@izknowstheend unless you're willing to relocate somewhere rural or north, it's hard to find permanent work. We are in the GTA and it's been impossible to even just supply. There's lots of other teaching outside of the school system like adult education, cooperate education, etc too!
@izknowstheend Teaching is a lot harder now than it was pre-pandemic bc kids lost out on so many basic skills. There’s also a higher prevalence of learning disabilities/ADHD than before but not a lot more support. Teaching requires a LOT of passion to justify the cons at this point.
@izknowstheend I’m not a teacher, but my partner is a secondary school teacher. the gist is, it’s a lot harder I find work and stability than you would expect given the “teacher shortages.” The early years of your career will be a lot of work for not a lot of money.
@TTChelps this is the second time where the 511 Bathurst has said it was coming and shows up on the tracker, but when it comes it says “Not in Service” and doesn’t stop
The streetcar number matches the one that just passed me.
@TTChelps street car 4463 said it was 509 union on the transit app but it said not in service and didn’t stop at Bastion St. How is it that I left early and I’m still going to be late
Mining of ALL minerals in developing countries is inherently exploitative. There is no such thing as ethical mining conducted by foreign mining MNCs in poor, underdeveloped countries and I can go on about it for days. Get off your high horse with your “conflict free” shit.
“Ethical” or “conflict free” diamonds are a scam. The Kimberly Process has improved transparency but diamond mining in Africa is inherently exploitation even if not out of conflict or child labour. Foreign mining MNCs exploit locals
Stop buying newly mined diamonds.
Brilliant Earth and other “ethical” brands are still participating in the exploitation of poor people in developing countries. Buy lab grown or recycled diamonds or diamonds mined in Canada (another issue to unpack but infinitely better in terms of regulation and oversight).
