The Big Plastic Count revealed only 12% of the 96 billion pieces of plastic UK households throw away is actually recycled in the UK. The other 88% is burnt, buried, or dumped overseas.

I just took part in the #BigPlasticCount, UK’s biggest investigation into household plastic waste. Here’s what I found really happens to my plastic waste:

♻️9% recycled
🌍14% sent abroad
🔥50% burnt
⛰️27% sent to landfill
