“This is the paradox of economics. To understand how fast the present is hurtling us into the future, you need a fixed point, and the fixed points are all in the past. It’s like driving while looking only at the rearview mirror—” https://t.co/hicbOArqLk
Again, no hate on the actual wedding curation, which was extremely well done and incredibly beautiful. But the responses have been quite disappointing and deeply concerning
We need to question why we are so quick to ascribe more value to everything foreign, just cause. Feels like the remnants of a deeply colonial mentality in an age where African fashion is making a name on the global stage. Like, read the room and be guided please
@Mamsy96 Who would have probably loved to take on this gig and been able to execute to perfection. I wish we’d stop celebrating foreign over everything African just for the sake of. It’s getting old
@Mamsy96 This is quite a poor and unfortunate take. Nothing about this look is beyond a Nigerian designer’s ability. And sure, I get that we are tired of the typical heavily corset look that has become the wedding template (trust, I’m 🇬🇭 and je brehhh) but no need to throw strays at VJ
A sophomore album in the wake of a debut that goes hard is always a tough undertaking. Been listening to @blacksherif_ ‘s #IronboyAlbum all weekend. Here’s my breakdown of the project. Shoutout to @Davidnicolsey for the artwork. Thread.
“People and leaders around the world are watching to see if democracy can still deliver peace and prosperity or even function. If America is ruled like a banana republic, with flagrant corruption and a leader who puts himself above the law, we lose that argument. We also lose the qualities that have made America exceptional and indispensable.” — Hillary Clinton
