In fact there are several pieces probably even more than he did for any other official couple of other FF games yet these people claim Cloud and Aerith are anything but a couple, anything but romantically connected.

It's strange, really if you think about it that people on X claim Cloud and Tifa are the intended couple of Final Fantasy 7….since like 1997 yet Amano never put these characters together in any of his art for FF7.
Square never bothered to asked him to but was okay with Clerith.

To do so on a character, you may need to have in your team once Aerith is gone. The result: people stopped using her…and instead people focused on Tifa, because she survives hence the argument was born why it is Cloti: because she alive and she is also there in AC

It's a textbook logical fallacy. They don't think they're shippers because they think CT is canon, and as such they are not shipping, just following canon. But they don't realize (or intentionally ignore) that CT was never made canon and they are in fact just hardcore shippers

There aren't that many games out there where a main character dies who is also a love interest and if that's not enough…losing Aerith in FF7 used to be a hard blow too, because of the levelling mechanism. If you kept having on your team, building up her limits meant you failed
