Today is my birthday and I'm celebrating by launching the big story update that brings Act 1 to its epic conclusion!
I crunched on this until 6 AM last night and sprinted through it today... but it's FINALLY HERE!
Please enjoy and share this! MADHOUSE on Steam :)
Tightened up the graphics on these treetop tiles that always bothered me in MADHOUSE. They're still not perfect but I think I'm done polishing them for now... Now I'm going to have to rework some of the other graphics so the treetops aren't mogging the rest of the game, lol
It's crazy but kind of cool how a man will lose the love of his life and just turn that passion towards his work, grinding in solitude and building his dreams for the remainder of his life.
@DanPaladin@finalbossblues Pisses me off because I've been a game designer since 1988 in one capacity or another; pen and paper, then rom hacking, then game dev. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing your life's dream of almost 40 years minimized by the fact that literally everyone else is now doing it.
@Orion7862@finalbossblues True but this is in reference to indie devs with established cred and huge budgets. 95% of other indies aren't even on the same playing field.
There are two very different definitions of indie games these days. Small passion projects are increasingly eclipsed by well-funded productions from already-established names. I'm urging players and journalists to dig a little deeper to honor the true spirit of being indie.
Can't tell what's real or fake on Twitter or BlueSky any more. Can't tell if strangers are socially awkward or a bot. There's no point in interacting with anyone who I don't already know from elsewhere. Hard to believe that social media was once a net good.
@KupoGames@GeraltofGoonia 100%. Nobody posts anything authentic anymore on this platform. It's just slopbots farming engagement with ragebait takes. I can see why there isn't much intelligent life left here.
@crankhart@NibberNagger Wanna trade? I just had party with 30 of my friends show up but my reach on social media is suppressed as hell... and for someone who does what I do, reach is extremely important to have.
@onion_mu Right?? When I go to my 'following' tab the last posts by anyone I follow are all like 12 hours apart. My posts get like 3 likes, tops. It just gives Dead Internet Theory.
@TeioStreams Not exactly... A top-down pixel art game that runs 18~30 hours could be made by 3~5 people with the right team. I was just surprised by the 15 people in this context.
@om_patel5 This isn't the flex you think it is -- the market is already oversaturated and people without the passion and creativity to learn the skills and tools needed to handcraft their own games will just flood the market with more slop.
@Team_CosmicTofu Do you feel like paying for premium actually improved your reach? I tried it once and didn't notice a difference, although I think I might have some sort of reach-mitigation on my account.
