It's not a perfect science, but to be an NBA Champion, it's more likely that they are a top defensive team than a top offensive team.

This doesn't necessarily mean it's the cause of winning a championship.

But I think it's fair to keep the phrase:

Sidenote: For the LeBron teams, here's the defensive rating rank reg season vs. playoffs:

- 2014 Heat (11 vs 9)
- 2015 Cavs (18 vs 4)
- 2017 Cavs (21 vs 11)
- 2018 Cavs (29 vs 11)

Besides 2015, there isn't a "lock-in" impact considering the playoffs only have 16 teams.
