Pictured is Anne Greagsby, a former Plaid Cymru council candidate.

Greagsby stated on social media: “No woman has a PENIS”, “No female has a penis”, and “Trans women are men”.

She also said, “I am a woman and refuse to be renamed cis anything”.

To the ordinary person, these comments might seem entirely reasonable.

But following complaints from Plaid members, with one by the name of Emyr Gruffydd, also a member of Plaid Ifanc (Young Plaid), reporting her for apparently displaying “an awful example of transphobia”, Greagsby faced a party disciplinary hearing.

The Plaid Cymru Senedd group’s then-Chief of Staff, Mabli Jones, who had formerly worked for / with Stonewall, even went so far as to accuse Greagsby as bringing Plaid Cymru “into disrepute” for holding pro-biology and gender-critical views.

These included criticism of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Transgender Inclusion Schools Toolkit, which pushed the idea upon children that gender is a “spectrum which is wider than just male and female”.

It also advised schools to avoid gender-specific activities wherever possible, including allowing transgender pupils to choose which sex’s PE group they attended.

Greagsby took to a site named Transgender Trend to voice her concerns.

She said: “I think parents and school governors should be consulted before they go ahead teaching this unscientific dangerous nonsense ...

“Our children must be allowed to live in the healthy bodies they were born with.”

Plaid Cymru banned Greagsby from the party in 2018, a year before her death.

A fellow suspended member, Gwyn Hopkins of Llanelli, said:

“The cavalier attitude of the Plaid leadership in using Standing Orders only when it suits them, resulting in such blatant favouritism towards certain members and, correspondingly, gross discrimination against others is both totally indefensible and appalling.

“One has every right to expect far higher standards of integrity from the Party of Wales.”

Greagsby’s story received no coverage in BBC Wales.

He even says it “saddens” him that people believe blokes can’t become women.

I have to wait 7yrs to get my state pension when I was promised I’d receive it when I was 60yrs old.

I paid into the system all my working life & was then told it was now unaffordable for me to receive because the country couldn’t afford it.

How then can this government now suddenly afford to find £billions for people that have not paid a penny into the system.

Those of us who have paid in & still waiting should receive a refund for the years they’ve paid in & received nothing in return.

The shock of someone taking their own life can make people react by saying that they were always just a victim. Sometimes that's true, but it really isn't in the case of Jason Arday.

It seems to me that Arday - a middle-aged man with an adult daughter - was infantilized by his supporters in life, and is being treated the same in death.

Yes, Cambridge University officials have a lot to answer for. They lauded a fraud as a generational genius. They gave him a highly-paid position educating young people whose parents paid a lot of money for the privilege, and accused those students of racism when they pointed out that he taught them nothing. They took his ridiculous backstory at face value and helped spread a near-legendary reputation that was inevitably going to be exposed, leaving him humiliated.

But Arday is the one who told all the lies about his life. He wasn't a child who didn't know better. He took that position and salary knowing he didn't have the qualifications for it and that his students would not benefit from his tutelage. By all accounts, he barely showed up for classes at all: he was usually late and left hours early.

It's a tragedy when anyone takes their own life and I'm sorry that he did, but if he was a victim, it was only of his own lies. Those lies deserved to be exposed and ridiculed.

This woman is extraordinary. I do not understand how government is not breaking her door down to get advice. What a strange world we live in that an education minister goes out of her way to do the opposite of what brings success.
