I left Google DeepMind in June. Jacob is right: many researchers believe they are building something that could kill everyone on the planet. It was literally my day job to think about how to stop that.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
Because you are not interested in the everyday things and happenings around you, you have invented the beyond, timelessness, God, truth, reality, enlightenment or whatever, and search for it.

Whatever you do in the pursuit of truth or reality takes you away from your own very natural state in which you already are. It's not something you can acquire, attain or accomplish as a result of your effort. All that you do makes it impossible for what already is there to express itself. That is why I call this your natural state. You're always in that state. What prevents what is there from expressing itself in its own way is the search. The search is always in the wrong direction.

Major breakthrough in my mini-data center operations. Over the weekend, I reworked most of the hardware. And built my own "Open Router" in-house front-end. Thanks to Qwen-27B and a fork in llama.cpp allowing KV cache streaming from system RAM, I was able to bring online a bunch of 16GB cards to handle multiple 27B streams to achieve large-scale document processing for our AI engines.
As a result, where I used to have 48 streams running at peak, I now have HUNDREDS of streams online, using the exact same hardware. This will allow us to index and clean (normalize) more science papers, more article content, more PDFs, etc., as we continue to build out our in-house knowledge base that powers https://t.co/6GWJp0Byl1 and https://t.co/Huol1wvrR5 both of which are free to the public.
Enjoy!
The world owes El Salvador and the fine work of the amazing @stacyherbert for saving open source AI. We pioneered safe harbor for AI long before most understood what it truly means.
President @nayibbukele had the vision to lead to the future.
Host your AI in El Salvador!
When you realize that you are absolutely free to be what you consent to be, that you are what you appear to be because of ignorance or indifference, you are free to revolt and change. You allow yourself to be what you are not.
Truth is a movement. You can't capture it, contain it, give expression to it, or use it to advance your interests. The moment you capture it, it ceases to be the truth. What is the truth for me is something that cannot, under any circumstances be communicated to you. The certainty cannot be transmitted to another.

Have you ever woken up in the morning and looked out of the window, or gone out and looked at the trees and the spring dawn? Live with it. Listen to all the sounds, to the whisper, the slight breeze among the leaves. See the light on a leaf and watch the sun coming over the hill, over the meadow; and the dry river, or sheep grazing across the hill. Watch them; look at them with a sense of affection, care that you do not want to hurt a thing. When you have such communion with nature, then your relationship with another person becomes simple, clear, without conflict.

The Whole Movement of Life Is Learning
You are looking for the causes of being what you are not! It is a futile search. There are no causes, but your ignorance of your real being, which is perfect and beyond all causation. For whatever happens, all the universe is responsible and you are the source of the universe.
The moment thought is born, it cannot stay there. Thought is matter. When one the matter that is necessary for the survival of the living organism is created, that matter becomes part of energy. Similarly life and death are simultaneous processes. It is thought that has separated and created the two points of birth and death. Thought has created this space and this time. But actually, birth and death are simultaneous processes.
