@BTECS_@RutgersAltRoute That's a great idea! It reminds me of texting - it can come through to the other side a different way than if you say it to them verbally (I try to add smiley faces to my feedback to help convey the message more positively)
@RutgersAltRoute A5: I might place a heavier emphasis on classwork and lab activities than many do. Even though it is an AP class (and we have to teach to the test at some level), the actual learning, exploring, and growing are more valuable to the students in the end. #AltRtEd#growthmindset
@MariaCastiglia7@RutgersAltRoute Agreed - Being a science teacher it's nice to have the opportunities for the students to learn through lab assignments!
@RutgersAltRoute A5: Our assessment tool is the most important tool that can enhance or destroy students’ desire to succeed in school. I want to start giving feedback without the grade on the paper so that the students see the feedback first and learn from it!
#AltRtEd#Growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I teach Engineering & Computer Science so there is always opportunities for errors in hands-on/program design - I emphasize that these failures are one step closer to success! #AltRtEd#growthmindset#STEMeducation
@RutgersAltRoute A4: Telling students they did well on a test & their studying paid off shows that students are in control of their own learning & fosters a growth mindset. Not just focusing on what they did wrong on tests/quizzes but also what they did well on
#science#AltRtEd#growthmindset
@NickMontagna1@RutgersAltRoute For sure - I sometimes make mistakes in front of the students and it shows them that even we make mistakes but then we learn from them!
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I will introduce student goal-setting so that the students are always challenging themselves especially since I have some students that are misplaced. I want them to start challenging themselves more so that they can see their potential. #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
@AlexisInguaggi1@RutgersAltRoute Definitely agree - we need to always remember all the students are capable of learning, maybe not right now but they will!
@RutgersAltRoute A2 Embrace the word “yet,” encourage an atmosphere of learning from mistakes, celebrate corrections, develop cooperative exercises, provide challenges #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A2: Teachers can provide a safer and comfortable classroom environment by encouraging and praising the students, make sure to call on everyone to participate in the classroom and provide constructive feedback on assignments, tasks, exams etc. #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A 1: Those with a fixed mindset avoid challenges and don’t push themslves as hard as they could. They don’t accept feedback and are usually set in the ways. For those that have a growth mindset take on new challenges and learn more from these experiences. #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A1: If the teachers and students both have a growth mindset there will be a plethora of opportunities to grow and learn more every day! If the teachers and/or students have a fixed mindset it's going to impede the learning happening in the classroom! #AltRtEd#Growthmindset
