NTA Declares Result of NEET (UG) 2026

11.21 lakh candidates qualify;
Results declared in time for counselling and Medical College Admissions;
Toppers from almost all States and Union Territories;
More than 58 per cent of qualified candidates are women;
Examination conducted in 13 languages

The National Testing Agency (NTA) declares the result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), NEET (UG) 2026. The result has been declared in time so that the medical-admission and counselling calendar for candidates stays on track.

A total of close to 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET (UG) 2026 at 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programmes.
Scorecards of all candidates are available on the official website, https://t.co/ehHaUsaoU6. The full list of Top Rankers, State Toppers, category-wise toppers (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS, PwBD and PwD), category-wise cut-off marks and language-wise participation is also being published on the NTA website.

Overview of the Candidates who appeared in NEET UG Exam on 21st June 2026
Close to 20 lakh candidates appeared and 11.21 lakh qualified. Candidates appeared from every State and Union Territory of the country, in 13 languages. More than 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are women.

The majority of the top-performing candidates are between 17 and 19 years of age.
Profile of the Top Rankers
138 candidates scored above 690 marks out of 720. Of these:
•Over 93 per cent appeared for NEET (UG) for the first time.
•99 per cent are between 17 and 19 years of age.

Geographical Distribution
Qualified candidates have emerged from every one of the 36 States and Union Territories, ranging from over 1.7 lakh in Uttar Pradesh to 43 in Lakshadweep. State Toppers include Jigmet Yangchan Lamo (Ladakh, 530 marks), Dhruv Tripathi (Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 606 marks) and Fahmida Anees (Lakshadweep, 573 marks), and cover every North-Eastern State. 17 State Toppers scored 700 or above; 26 scored above 690.

The 138 top rankers come from 66 cities across the country. The Top 17 rankers who scored more than 705 marks span eight States, namely Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Score Distribution and Highest Scorers
•19 candidates scored above 700 out of 720.
•1,492 candidates scored 650 and above.
•10,160 candidates scored 600 and above.
•90,780 candidates scored 500 and above.
The highest score of 715 out of 720 was obtained jointly by Aryan Gupta (Punjab) and Panshul Bansal (Haryana).
Category-wise Qualified Candidates
Registered, appeared and qualified figures are being published in full for General, Gen-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwBD, PwD and Third Gender candidates. Separate topper lists for each category are provided in the accompanying toppers document.

•General: 2.91 lakh
•OBC-NCL: 5.12 lakh
•SC: 1.59 lakh
•ST: 63,716
•Gen-EWS: 95,026
•PwBD: 3,666
•PwD: 303
Category-wise cut-off marks and percentiles are being published simultaneously.

Participation and Qualification of Women Candidates
More than 58 per cent of all qualified candidates are women. Women also qualified at a higher rate than men: 56.8 per cent of women who appeared qualified, as against 55.1 per cent of men.
Languages of the Examination
NEET (UG) 2026 was conducted in 13 languages: Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English.

Process and Timeline of Result Declaration
The result was declared within time through re-engineering of the process, with stages designed to run in parallel rather than in sequence, and with the de-linking of OMR sheet challenge from answer key release. Each stage was completed in full and made available for candidate view:
•Provisional answer key published on 25 June 2026; challenge window open from 25 to 28 June 2026.
•Scanned OMR answer sheets and recorded responses displayed to candidates from 13 to 15 July 2026.
•Final answer key published on 16 July 2026; result declared on 16 July 2026.

Statutory FrameworkNTA conducts NEET (UG) under Section 14 of the NMC Act, 2019 and Section 14 of the NCISM Act, 2020, and for BHMS under the NCH, on the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education.
NTA’s mandate is to conduct the examination, declare the result on eligibility criteria provided by NMC, and issue the All-India Rank. Merit lists, category lists, domicile determination and counselling are the remit of the admitting/State authorities. NTA has no role in these.
NEET (UG) result data is also used for admission to https://t.co/P1QVj20987. (H) Nursing and to BVSc and AH under the 15% VCI quota. AACCC is the counselling authority for the All-India Quota in BAMS/BUMS/BSMS and BHMS.

Counselling and Candidate Advisory
Counselling for the All-India Quota in MBBS/BDS is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). State quotas are conducted by respective State authorities. Candidates should rely only on official websites: https://t.co/ehHaUsaoU6, https://t.co/Kql0EMCxDN and State counselling portals.

Team NTA, Team Bharat: How India Came Together for NEET (UG) 2026

On 21 June 2026, more than 20 lakh candidates sat for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad. The paper was administered in 13 languages, including Hindi and English. Today, we look back at the people and the coordination that made that day possible.

This was not the National Testing Agency acting alone. It was Team Bharat - a chain of people across the country who showed up so that, for each candidate, the only thing that mattered that morning was the paper in front of them.

Care for every candidate
Extensive arrangements were made for all candidates, including more than 10,000 Persons with Disabilities. Special arrangements were put in place for around 81 candidates with medical conditions, among them a child who had been in a road accident, and a child undergoing chemotherapy, who were determined not to miss an exam they had prepared for years. Reaching each of them took planning that no candidate ever sees.

A whole-of-government effort
Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and two-layer frisking with the support of State Police were in place across centres. Command and control centres for CCTV monitoring were established at the national level - at the NTA and at the Ministry of Education, at 34 Centrally Funded Institutions of the Department of Higher Education, in every State, and at District Collectorates.

The conduct of the examination drew on the support of CAPF, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Department of Posts, the Indian Air Force, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry Of Railways, NIC, MeitY, the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education, and our banking partners - SBI, Canara Bank, PNB and UCO Bank, alongside State Governments and many other stakeholders.

States that went the extra mile
Several State Governments made arrangements for students and parents - shade, water and food at centres, ambulances and medical facilities on standby, and in many States, free transportation for candidates on exam day. National protocol, translated into local care, centre by centre.

The scale of it
Around 7 lakh officials - police teams, observers and examination staff - were mobilised across India to conduct this examination, and it was done in a record 37 days. NTA is especially grateful to the experts from academic institutions across the country who gave their personal time to help prepare multiple sets of question papers.

More than 20 lakh aspirants. One exam. A country's administrative machinery - ministerial, bureaucratic, police, district and local - aligned behind a single day, so that each candidate could simply sit down and write.
To every candidate who wrote on 21 June - well done. And to everyone who made it possible: thank you.

राजस्थान के सबसे बड़े विश्वविद्यालयों में शामिल राजस्थान यूनिवर्सिटी की परीक्षा व्यवस्था उस समय सवालों के घेरे में आ गई, जब एमए समाजशास्त्र द्वितीय सेमेस्टर की परीक्षा के दौरान विद्यार्थियों को प्रश्नपत्र की जगह सीधे उत्तर कुंजी थमा दी गई. इस घटना के सामने आने के बाद परीक्षा केंद्र पर हड़कंप मच गया और छात्रों ने विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन की कार्यप्रणाली पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए.

मामला जयपुर स्थित राजस्थान यूनिवर्सिटी का है. मंगलवार को आयोजित एमए समाजशास्त्र द्वितीय सेमेस्टर की परीक्षा में करीब 300 विद्यार्थी पंजीकृत थे. परीक्षा शुरू होने के बाद जब छात्रों ने प्रश्नपत्र खोला तो वे हैरान रह गए. प्रश्नों के साथ उनके उत्तर भी शीट में मौ���ूद थे.

📌 A message to our students

The NEET UG 2026 examination is just three days away.
To every candidate: you have worked hard, you have prepared, and now is the time to trust your effort. Stay calm, rest well, and focus on doing your best. That is all that is asked of you.

The examination will be conducted as scheduled. Please do not be swayed by rumours of postponement or by the noise on social media. Rely only on official communication from NTA.

We want to reassure you that extensive arrangements are in place for a safe, secure and fair examination, in close coordination with relevant ministries, state governments and security agencies. The integrity of this process is our highest priority, and robust, multi-layered safeguards have been put in place. Any attempt at malpractice will be dealt with firmly - because protecting honest, hardworking students is exactly what this is about.

The difficult decision taken on 3rd May was made solely in your interest. The moment a problem was identified, we acted to protect the fairness of the process for every sincere candidate. We have carried those lessons forward and strengthened the system further this time.

If the pressure feels heavy, please know you are not alone. The MANAS mental-health helpline (14416) is available, and support is there for anyone who needs it. Reaching out is a sign of strength.
