@AJEnglish It's all about money for him whichever way possible. We'll never know but I'll bet the talks failed bc they tried to shake the Iranians down for big contracts to rebuild Iran. Steve and Jared will have wanted to build condos and hotels. Always on the grift.
@ChrisMurphyCT@adamjohnsonCHI I know of no one who actually thinks this was a victory - no matter what Fox says - simply backing away from a cliff. The war is a symptom of our problems.
@ChrisMurphyCT@adamjohnsonCHI You didn't make that nuanced argument on the networks. Instead you seemed to attack the ceasefire on the basis that you would have secured better terms. The focus should be people's lives - here and in the Gulf not the particulars of the ceasefire. What are you offering?
@ChrisMurphyCT Didn't love what you've been saying about the ceasefire. The imperfection of it shouldn't be the point. Let Trump have his W for actually finding a way out of something he was at a dead end with such that he was threatening nukes.Who's the more competent warmonger shouldn't be it
@WebbaBroadside@real_Miroslav I tend to think about stuff as connected. It's hard to be okay yourself if everything else has gone to hell. This war has lots of examples - it's far away yet there are all these knock on effects. Also, I dunno, I care about our country and would expect our troops to, too.
@WebbaBroadside@real_Miroslav It's also not a clearcut thing - what's on the line. Often vets are haunted by what they did even when it wasn't unlawful. So in the case of something that might be unlawful, you could preserve your career and still be very damaged by it. It's not like choice 1 and choice 2.
@WebbaBroadside It's really command that I want to see keeping their oath, the rules of engagement, and not carrying out unlawful order etc. in mind. Really critical now when POTUS seems increasingly all over the place.
@WebbaBroadside Yes, I understand that it can be hard to figure that out, especially when you can't see that targets. In the case of launching nukes, go slow and questioning makes sense because there is no winning that kind of war.
@WebbaBroadside@real_Miroslav You also dishonor your uniform, your unit and your branch of the military if you are able to yet don't use discernment and just light up anything that moves w/o question. It is your legal duty to refuse unlawful orders.
@WebbaBroadside@krystalball They take an oath, are pledged not to obey unlawful orders and have rules of engagement. There is always the risk that if they don't abide by these that they can be court martialed - so always a higher standard which makes sense because they are sanctioned to take lethal action.
@krystalball Not revolt. They've sworn to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC and not to obey unlawful orders. They also have rules of engagement. They should remind themselves of that.
@BernieSanders It may mean that he plans to use the nukes. Sheldon Whitehouse is out here saying we just need to wait for the mid-terms as if a launch could not happen in seconds whenever POTUS wants. Get organized and get out there in DC. None of you should be on vacation.
@AyannaPressley This is a good start. Now need to see you and others doing this as a bloc. Otherwise, it looks like something you are doing for reelection and it lacks power. Where are the other Dems on the eve of him using nukes?
