An informal discussion hosted by the PermRep explored lessons from the evaluation of EU civilian CSDP missions. The EEAS presented key findings and possible next steps, while participants from Member States and EU services reflected on military CSDP effectiveness. Thank you all!
The situation in Sudan is worrying and deserves the attention of the international community. According to the UN, the situation in Sudan is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
We underline the importance of coordinated peace efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire. Finland supports the peace efforts of international and regional actors (EU, UN, AU, IGAD, Arab League), and the efforts by the UNSG Personal Envoy to Sudan Lamamra.
We welcome the ongoing, proactive efforts of the Quad (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US) that have the potential to turn the situation for the better.
We must exert all efforts to support a negotiated settlement of the conflict with the active participation of both the SAF and the RSF.

The devastating conflict in Sudan is entering its third year. Appalled at the continuing humanitarian suffering. Finland continues its humanitarian support with additional 2 MEUR. I condemn attacks on civilians and aid workers and call on all parties to respect international law.

The humanitarian crisis in Sudan remains dire and impact of the conflict devastating. Both the EU and its Member States continue to support efforts, such as those of the IFFM, on the path towards an inclusive peace process and a sustainable peace for Sudan and its people. 2/2

Last Coreper & last day in Brussels for our EU Ambassador @mkeinanen. Markku, with profound EU experience throughout the 30 years of our 🇫🇮🇪🇺 membership has been an excellent lead for our Representation - much liked and valued by everyone. Heartfelt thanks from all of us, Markku!
The suffering in Sudan is shocking leaving millions dead, displaced and dying of hunger. The EU strongly appeals to parties for an immediate and durable ceasefire and reminds them of their obligation under international humanitarian law to protect civilians
