The Ministry of MSME has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), to institutionalize a mechanism for sharing relevant data for the development and strengthening of the Statistical Business Register (SBR).

The MoU will facilitate a structured framework for sharing relevant information from the Udyam Registration ecosystem of the Ministry of MSME with MoSPI. The information will contribute to improving the coverage, consistency and reliability of business information used for statistical purposes.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME and Dr. Dalip Singh, Additional Director General, MoSPI, in the presence of senior officers from Ministry of MSME and MoSPI.

Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, interacted with officers of the Regional Office, NSO, Ahmedabad and its sub regional offices. He also inspected the ongoing fieldwork for the National Household Income Survey (NHIS) in the Vastrapur area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and reviewed the survey process at a selected household.

NHIS, being conducted nationwide by NSO, MoSPI, from April 2026 to March 2027, is India’s first comprehensive household income survey. It collects information on household income from wages, salaries, self-employment, agriculture, property, pensions and remittances, along with expenditure, helping address a long-standing gap in official household income data.
