@MaryBowdenMD You can’t have it both ways. If you cut funding for research and innovation, local students inevitably become less competitive. Meanwhile, in places where funding is growing, students gain an edge. The outcome isn’t surprising. It’s inevitable.
@AlexandreFiles Funny (depressing!) to see all these people who have no clue about Brazilian legislation (including @AlexandreFiles) giving their uninformed opinion as if they were experts. Your translations are inaccurate and you’re misleading the people. It’s pathetic!
@EmmaRincon Freedom DOES NOT mean having the right to commit a crime. @X‘s suspension in Brazil is not an attack to freedom of speech. It’s a consequence of X breaking the law of the land. Simple like that #x#brazil
@AlexandreFiles The translation in English of the document in Portuguese is misleading. The original document IS NOT telling Twitter to do anything “in secret”, as the post states. It is requesting that the secrecy be removed from those profiles as they have broken the Brazilian law.
If you’re doing your PhD in a second language, then you should be really proud of yourself.
And just know that people doing their PhDs in their first language don’t know how on Earth you’re even doing it.

@HAWorkers Could we get some explanation as to why lecturers’ votes were being challenged? I thought that as non-tenure-track workers (we are paid by the university and not stipends, have all employee benefits, etc) we were 100% part of the union.
I’m a lecturer at @Harvard and I taught one class at @HarvardExt. I can assure you that I held HES students by the same standards I hold my college students.
🆘 Urgent appeal to @lyft
I booked a ride yesterday 6 PM to the Boston airport. After loading my luggage, the driver abruptly canceled, leaving with all my belongings. This includes my passport, VISA, OPT/EAD Card, and vital documents, totalling a loss of $30,000.
