@martindvz We are out performing major EU countries. Add to that nine poorer nations waiting in the wings to join the EU all of which the UK will have subsidise. Add to that compulsory use of the Euro.
Add to that no rebates.
Add to that higher membership fees.
@andrewhesselden Given the UK is surprisingly out pacing major EU economies, there are nine poorer countries waiting in the wings to join, compulsory use of the Euro, no rebate & huge membership costs is it really worth rejoining.
@LabourEuropean Shockingly even with our dire economy we are out performing the big hitters in the EU & with nine 'poorer' countries waiting in the wings to join who will not be nett contributors it's probably not a great idea.
@andrewhesselden We can all agree that our economy is in a pretty dire state but the UK is still set to out perform the EU's big hitters.
On top of that there are none 'poor states' waiting in the wings to join the EU who will not be nett contributors.
@TorstenBell Government borrowing for APRIL ALONE was over ยฃ23 Billion.
That dwarfs the recent trade deal with Japan which time will be worth an estimated ยฃ18 Billion to the UK economy.
That's Labour economics.
@JohnCrookes7 Probably because the government borrowed ยฃ24.3 in April alone.
It unfortunately shows where we are as a country now. Sky high borrowing & welfare costs overshadow the small number of positive things happening in the country.
@DavidTaylor85 Major deals & investment are always welcome but to put things into perspective your government borrowed ยฃ24.3 Billion in April alone !
@Keir_Starmer Ok. So you have two high profile resignations from defence and all of a sudden we are boarding a Russian tanker now despite having hundreds that have already blatantly sailed through our waters...... coincidence ๐ค
@MyArrse The government has to pay over ยฃ100 Billion a year on serving it's debt interest alone due to uncontrolled borrowing.
It starts to put things into perspective a little & shows us where the real problem lies.
