Sinners: In the end, when Preacher Boy didn’t let go.. I reflect back on two important moments that probably influenced him.. When Slim told him “The Blues wasn’t forced on us like Religion was.. We brought this from home” & when Remmick started reciting the Lords Prayer with him & said the ppl who stole his daddies land gave him that prayer too & the words still gave him comfort.. that showed Preacher Boy that running to the Lord wouldn’t save him bc it was just another tool used to enslaved his people & it was actually the Blues music that allowed him to be free while also staying connected to the spirit of his ancestors.
