@hodgman To clarify, it never should’ve never been allowed to escalate to the point that it did. But once all those people were in there, there’s a good cha ca that arrests would have turned the already volatile situation into a bloodbath.

@hodgman Unless those people were armed and likely to revolt and it was much safer for all involved to let them go while diffusing the situation and then pick them up later when they’re not part of a violent mob. (Especially bc they are all findable with cell phone data).

@suzy_e123 @_celia_bedelia_ While teachers may get hired with just a Bachelors, they are usually contractually obligated to continue their education as a term of employment. Most positions require an eventual Masters as well as additional certifications and coursework (earned while teaching full time).

That’s why there is a federal minimum wage as a baseline minimum, then each state has its own minimum wage, and even cities have their own minimum wage. For example minimum wage in New York City is higher than minimum wage for upstate New Yorkers.
