Literature, art, they unindoctrinate you. The more you read, the more people begin to look like people, and less like the demarcations of caste, religion, and region into which the world insists on dividing them.
Twitter is unique because ambitious, high agency people end up debating what’s possible with timid, risk averse people and both sides mistake their abilities, limitations and life experience for universal truths. The disconnect is these two groups rarely interact in the wild.
i had a creative writing professor who gave the opposite advice. the brain eventually stops noticing the repetition of “said” which allows you to easily imagine the conversation. specific verbs can be intrusive and distracting and should only be used when absolutely necessary
U.S. job numbers keep getting revised lower, per Bloomberg.
Since the start of 2025, initial jobs reports have been revised down in 16 of 20 months, cutting a total of 793,000 jobs.
That’s an average of nearly 40,000 jobs a month that were reported, then quietly erased.
Healthcare and retail/fast food workers deal with this from opposite spectrums. With the former, shitty people are like "how dare you think you're better than me?" while in the latter, those same people are more "how dare you not know I'm better than you?". Trash
JAPAN ECONOMY MINISTER KIUCHI: REFLATIONARY POLICY IS NOT WHAT'S NEEDED NOW; IF SOMEONE IS CALLING FOR REFLATIONARY POLICY, THAT'S DIFFERENT FROM OUR POLICY; TAKAICHI ADMINISTRATION IS NOT PURSUING REFLATIONARY POLICY
RUSSIA HIT KHARKIV’S MAIN POWER PLANT HOURS AFTER TRUMP ANNOUNCED AN ‘ENERGY CEASEFIRE’, WITH ZELENSKY CONFIRMING THE HIT ON CHP-5 — A MAJOR HEAT-AND-POWER FACILITY — AND SAYING RUSSIA CARRIED OUT MORE THAN 200 ATTACKS ON UKRAINIAN ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE PAST WEEK ALONE, KILLING MORE THAN 150 AND INJURING OVER 700
🚨 THE WORLD IS RUNNING OUT OF SHIPS TO TRANSPORT OIL.
JPMorgan warns that the global oil market is facing another major supply shock, but this time the problem isn't a shortage of oil.
It's a shortage of tankers needed to transport it.
Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz jumped from 7.5 million to 12 million barrels per day in September, putting massive pressure on the global tanker fleet.
Of the world's 923 supertankers, 766 are already in use, while another 124 Iranian tankers remain largely unavailable due to US sanctions.
And the situation is getting worse.
Longer shipping routes, delays and rising demand mean even more tankers are needed to transport the same amount of oil.
The Middle East alone now needs 35 additional supertankers compared with the 2025 average.
And this shortage is starting to affect shipping markets far beyond the Middle East.
The biggest concern is that oil could become much more expensive to transport, even if there is enough crude available.
If shipping costs keep rising, fuel prices and inflation worldwide could come under even more pressure.
South Korea completed a commercial round trip to Europe using an Arctic shipping route. Japanese companies are pulling out of China as American tariffs impact their bottom lines. The US needs to be more manual and less reactive. There is no second or third order thinking
BREAKING: Goldman Sachs says about $22 of the price of every barrel of oil is now fear that supply will get cut off.
That is the second highest on record, after April 2026.
Global oil stocks are near all time lows in Goldman's data since 2017, and Brent is still above $100 even as Persian Gulf oil exports recover.
the danger starts when people start viewing your happiness as an affront to their gloom. Eventually, you have to be as miserable as they are, or you risk them resenting your resilience and targeting your wins with envy and doom
I can help people who are striving and have an internal locus of control. Once pessimism becomes a core facet of a person's identity, every solution and silver lining is distorted into a new negative. I get that hopelessness is a literal symptom of MDD, but
Once you get out of your depression you really can’t be around folks who haven’t gotten out. It’s not your responsibility to cater. I always advise help and support them from the sidelines that shit be draining
I am so excited to join Markelle Grabo and Don Martin for a good time at my favorite Chicago Public Library, Sulzer!
If you wanted to come to ADAM, MINE's release event, but it was a little far from the city, this is a great opportunity to join in on the fun this October 24th!!
a lot of people’s sense of self now is built on a foundation of envy, which is the decay from suppressing your desires. so many look to justify this avoidance of self by ascribing morality to their failures; then the misery compounds bc its rewarded with company on social media
self loathing feels good because it allows you to expect nothing from yourself. if you held yourself in high esteem, then your habits, your achievements, your life would have to reflect that - which means a TON of work. performative self pity is how you escape this burden
