I'm honestly tired of people saying #TheGirlfriend’s lead, Bhooma, has no flaws.

First of all, women relating to her isn’t about seeing themselves as innocent or perfect, and definitely not about seeking validation. They connect with her because of the circumstances she created for herself: by not saying no, by not standing up for herself, by constantly trying to please others. Her inability to assert herself comes from low confidence and deep insecurity, both shaped by her toxic father and years of emotional conditioning.

Bhooma’s flaws are emotional, not ethical. She’s not a bad person; she’s a troubled person. Her flaw is her inability to assert herself, something many real people struggle with due to trauma or upbringing. That’s exactly why so many audiences connect with her.

Bhooma does have flaws. She’s deeply conflicted. She goes back to her boyfriend even when something inside her tells her it’s wrong. Neither Bhooma nor Vikram are victims. They’re simply two individuals unaware of their own flaws and strengths, two people who don’t fully understand themselves, just like so many of us.

If you had watched the film beyond the surface level, you’d have seen what @23_rahulr was really trying to say. But your prejudice makes you assume Bhooma is perfect, when in reality, she’s far from it. There are millions of Bhoomas in the world, and only a few Durgas.

So, calling the film 'convenient' or 'insufficient' is a superficial take. Criticizing others for relating to Bhooma is as silly as sitting in a movie theatre scrolling your phone instead of focusing on the film.

Once again, Rahul’s screenplay doesn’t portray anyone as a villain or a victim. That’s just how you choose to see it. Vikram isn’t shown as a villain; he’s acting according to his upbringing and beliefs. Bhooma doesn’t know any better; she doesn’t even truly know what love is, or what she wants.
