The Philippine Intercollegiate Debating Championship (PIDC) is the national Asian Parliamentary debate tournament in the Philippines, now on its 19th year.

Our thoughts are with everyone adversely affected by the pandemic. We are facing uncertain times and it is important for the debate community to do its part and continue to be relevant to the national situation.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of PIDC 2020 due to circumstances with regard to the impact of COVID-19.

We have worked tirelessly to provide a worthwhile experience to participants but we believe it is in the best interest of the debate community not to conduct the tournament as planned, given the restrictions on mass gatherings and public health risks posed by the pandemic.

In line with this quarantine, the PIDC organizing committee has prepared a small game for everyone who misses debate in these trying times. We hope this continually fuels our passion for debate while not forgetting the social realities we debate about.

Already missing debate?

With the on-going lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we call on the debate community to use this time to gather donations, disinfect spaces, observe precautionary health measures, and stay at home with our families, as much as possible.

The registration process for PIDC 2020 is postponed until further notice.

Further decisions on the conduct of the tournament will be communicated to institutional representatives in due course.
