@MiraPrater We’ve got prosperity gospel preachers preaching that ANYONE could have done what Jesus did 🥴 and that we’re all “little gods”...no wonder people are confused with that garbage out there #americangospel

Well folks tomorrow is looking like a sprinkle of grammar pretests with a hailstorm of grittiness in the second half courtesy of @NK_Adjei & his incredible story #finkelstein5
@natebyr0n I love this. My understanding of the civil rights movement wasn’t deepened until grad school & I never want my students to go through HS without knowing about Recy Taylor, Medgar Evers, etc. History matters. Especially ensuring it’s not the watered-down, “post-race” BS.
Your annual reminder that Dr. King believed in guaranteed universal basic income that gave all people a dignified life, guaranteed housing for all, guaranteed access to a high quality education, & said that “no one should be forced to live in poverty while others live in luxury.”
Few in MLK’s time thought he would end up having such impact. We have a responsibility to build platforms & increase reach for our students’ diverse voices. We do NOT “empower” them. We facilitate their ability to express the powerful words they already have. #facilitatechange
I’ve said this before, but if you’re doing an MLK day service project consider bringing King-level analysis to it. Don’t just serve lunch at a soup kitchen, interogate why millions of ppl live in poverty in the first place.
King’s legacy isn’t about charity, it’s about justice.
@debreese @read_tribe I was educated on this last spring & now I will read something & be inspired by the book, podcast, etc. until they use the word “tribe” & their point just dies.
Convo today: “Why can’t it be that when a person says something is important to them, the other person supports them? And why is it that the questioning often comes from men?” So. True. We have to respect others’ needs, even & especially when they don’t mirror our own. #respect
