The post being replied to here couldn't be more wrong. However, if you were to talk specifically about the racial aspect of Englishness, then the fact that you have to get into subsets within subsets of people to “prove” it's apparently not a thing probably means you're the one being pedantic.

No. Ethnicity, from the ancient Greek ‘ethnos’, is a people/tribe of a particular nation with shared ancestry, religion and/or cultural practices.

‘White Caucasoid’ is a broad racial category, like ‘Black Negroid’.

The clue lies in the term ‘English’, as derived from ‘Englisc’ (used with reference to Angles, Saxons and Jutes collectively, according to Bede), and ‘Britain’ from ‘Briton’, as in Celtic Briton (Pritanī)—definitely not a specific line I would pursue, if I were you.

Nations are named after after the inhabitants, not the other way around. England—in the form of one distinct nation comprised of boroughs (from ‘buhr’)—has existed in such a way with the same distinct group of people, religion and culture for over a millennium.

And regarding the erroneous comment made in the original post about ‘mongrel race’, all of the above are the same race of people and all from a relatively miniscule corner of North-West Europe, thus cannot be mongrel by definition. But again, that is race, not ethnicity.
