🎥 Highlights from PIG-PARADIGM at #dpp2025
Catch a glimpse of our PIG-PARADIGM satellite session at the International Symposium on Digestive Physiology of Pigs, where we explored nutritional strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance in pig production.
🎉 What a day! On May 6th, the @project_avant final stakeholder event – "Alternatives to antibiotics in pigs: Paving the Way to a Sustainable EU Pig Production" brought together over 70 participants from across the research, veterinary, policy, and farming communities 🐷
💡 The event showcased key results from the AVANT and @pigparadigm projects. Participants explored innovative strategies to reduce antibiotic use — such as high-fibre diets, gut microbiota interventions, and faecal filtrate transplantation — and discussed how these findings can be translated into real-world farming practices.
💬 A big thank you to all the participants and contributors who made this event a success!

🗓️ On 9 May 2025, ICARS facilitated a workshop with 45–50 scientists from diverse regions, highlighting the global nature of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
🐖 Hosted by @pigparadigm , the session built practical skills in implementation research for AMR mitigation, focusing on:
🔹 Problem identification
🔹 Stakeholder mapping
🔹 Selecting interventions
🔎 Participants applied these skills to a case study from ICARS’ Colombia project, using role-play and a problem tree to explore AMR challenges in pig production.
🌏 Examples from other ICARS-supported projects sparked rich discussions on tailoring solutions to local contexts.
✅ This workshop reflects ICARS’ commitment to co-developing AMR solutions with LMICs and One Health stakeholders.
