Bassano may be a smaller community, but they sure know how to put on a great event!
It was a wonderful day in my constituency celebrating with families at the parade, flipping a few pancakes with friends, and taking in the incredible community spirit that makes rural Alberta so special.
A special thanks to the young cowboy who helped me sharpen up my roping skills. I might need a few more lessons before I’m ready to go pro.
A full day in Brooks meeting with people who are getting things done.
Started with Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools, then Grasslands Public Schools, followed by a visit to REDI Enterprises, and wrapped up with the Eastern Irrigation District.
We covered everything from education, community supports, and the importance of irrigation to growth and agriculture in this region. Appreciate everyone’s insight today.
Congratulations to Taber, Alberta for being this year’s winner of the Kraft Hockeyville contest! I know this will go a long way to supporting minor hockey all across Taber and the surrounding communities 🏒 💪
After the recent explosion at Taber’s arena disrupted the season for more than 250 minor hockey players, it is wonderful to see the town chosen as Alberta’s winner in the Hockeyville contest. Upgrades are now on the way for this community rink and for the families who rely on it.

Had an absolute blast at the 🏒 🥅 Medicine Hat Tigers @tigershockey vs Edmonton Oil Kings @EdmOilKings recently— lots of goals and even got to see my caucus mate, MLA Justin Wright @real_jtwright dress up like a tiger 🐯
Spending time in my riding of Brooks-Medicine Hat is one of the most important parts of my job. Listening directly to constituents keeps me grounded in what is working and where we need to do better.
Yesterday started with local meetings in the riding, followed by a productive discussion with Mayor Linnsie Clark and Medicine Hat City Council about the future of our community. We wrapped up the day at the Palliser Economic Partnership fundraiser, an endowment that supports veterinary students in southern Alberta. I am very grateful for everyone who is working so hard to keep this region strong.
I’m pleased to see Prime Minister Mark Carney listen to automakers, industry leaders, Albertans and common-sense by scrapping the federal EV mandate once and for all.
Requiring 60 per cent of new cars sold in Canada to be zero-emission by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2035, was always unrealistic and bad policy. Alberta purchased over 222,000 cars last year. Only 19,863 EVs were registered in our province in 2025. If 60 per cent of last year’s sales had to be zero-emission, we would have been about 85 per cent short.
Alberta alone could have purchased every single EV produced in this country and we still would not have been close to meeting the federal mandate. There weren’t enough cars, not enough demand, and not enough charging stations. Every family, province and economy across this country would’ve been hurt by this plan.
The EV mandate would have raised costs, removed consumer choice and hurt Canada’s automotive sector, while doing nothing to reduce global emissions. Canadians knew this. The auto industry knew this. Local leaders knew this. And we’re pleased to see Ottawa recognize it, too.
Over the last decade, Ottawa has imposed what we have called the ‘nine bad laws’ that have damaged Alberta’s economy and hurt Albertans and Canadians alike. The EV mandate was one of them. While we are pleased the federal EV mandate has been scrapped, we will be closely monitoring the effect of the new emissions standards.
We support consumer choice. If the federal government wants to promote EV sales, it must provide incentives, not mandatory mandates. As Ottawa develops a new automotive strategy, wehope they will work closely with provinces and consumers to make choice and affordability paramount and keep this policy pointed in the right direction.
I dropped into Playfair Lodge this weekend to deliver some Christmas cookies to our amazing seniors and to chat with them about the direction of our province.
While I was there, I met Ross celebrating his 95th birthday with his family. What an incredible milestone. Happy birthday Ross!
Today, the government of Alberta will announce significant immediate investments, actions, and long-term plans to improve the health care system. https://t.co/TZPBO69yKX
Alberta’s health system must do more than respond to today’s pressures, it must be ready for tomorrow.
Our Acute Care Action Plan will add 1,000 new acute care beds, deliver 50,000 additional surgeries, increase the number of psychiatric beds and continuing care spaces, and expand capacity for neonatal intensive care.
This plan is about putting patients and providers first so that Albertans can access the care they need, when and where they need it.

This morning I’ll be sharing Alberta’s First Quarter Fiscal Update for 2025, with a clear look at how our province is performing and where we’re headed. https://t.co/sWcEWuj779
The Brooks region has been hit hard by devastating hail. Families, farmers, and businesses are dealing with significant damage.
Yesterday, I spent time on the ground with residents to see the impact firsthand and I couldn’t be prouder of our first responders and utility crews working tirelessly to help. Special thanks to Altalink, Fortis and Arrow for working nonstop to get the lights back on for everyone so quickly!
Wanted to share a note to all my constituents in the Brooks area after a serious storm passed through this evening. I hope everyone is safe and sound. I’ve already seen reports of significant damage, but I’m confident that friends and neighbours will come together to support one another and lend a helping hand.
Highway 36 is closed at Highway 1 due to damage. It is suggested that travellers take Highway 876 north and Highway 544 west to get around the city.
Please monitor @511Alberta for updates and for those in the Brooks region who need any additional assistance, please contact my constituency office: https://t.co/FKgh34HEVc
What a stellar Thursday!
Busy day on the trail in Medicine Hat starting at the town parade, then off to the President’s luncheon where I ran into these rodeo queens, toured the operations at @BigMarbleFarms, before settling in for some rodeo tonight at the Medicine Hat Stampede.
Absolutely beautiful weekend in Brooks!
Joined the Brooks Kinsmen Parade to celebrate this year’s “Hometown Heroes” theme, such a proud moment to honour the everyday Albertans who make our communities strong.
Also had the chance to walk through the Farmers’ Market, present a cheque to the Brooks Food Bank, meet with the Silver Sage Ag society, tour Brooks Animal Protection Society, and visit with so many familiar faces.
We can’t wait any longer.
Canada is being weakened by indecision and division. It’s time to take bold action to protect our country, our economy, and our way of life for the generations who will inherit what we build.
