I really mean this: Palmer Luckey is one of the most evil men in the history of tech. You can debate the ethics of generative AI but this guy looked at it and was like “oh damn this would make killing people wayyy easier”
I think one of the most shocking things about tech is that a huge number of people watched the social network and read it as “this is a cool guy” and not “this is the biggest sociopathic loser in history” (the obvious intent, even back then)
> be me
> Jessie Eisenberg
> *plays the most iconic role ever for techies in the social network*
> inspires an entire generation to become engineers and founders
> plays a classic mega nerd
> acts like an aboslute g
> real guy has a bowl cut and acts like a lizard
> still wears "fuck you flipflops" and stands on business
> "I never really paid attention to the real person, I just try to embody a relatable character" - Jessie Eisenberg in an interview about his characters
> *Mark sees the film*
> claims some aspects are real while others are dramatized
> there's an obvious undertone of "I wish this was me"
**Fast forward five years...
> Mark transforms his appearance into a complete chad
> takes on the persona of the movie character
> appears on joe rogan to disucss UFC, steaks, and testosterone maxxing
> even gets the same hairstyle
> be jessie eisenberg
> portray a man that inspires an entire generation
> inspire the very man you portray to be like you
subway takes guy: so what’s your take
me: around sunrise on new year’s day 1992, I hit something with my car. the native people in the Mojave believe these creatures represent a dark omen. when I searched the ditch by the side of the road it was gone
STG: [solemn] 100% disagree
@matthiasellis 3blue1brown on YouTube has the best “accessible” explanation out there. His series on transformers really pulls back the curtain on all this hype https://t.co/BVy6i52KEW
