@hybridathlete@Alan_Couzens …and on almost no actual bike training! 2 months ago I got an e-bike cargo delivery job 3x8 hour shifts p/w of ‘cycling’ 40-50k lifting about 60 4-5kg boxes on and off for deliveries, sometimes up a few flights of stairs. HR never gets much above 100!!
@hybridathlete Great read…I’m a recent concert having read a lot of @Alan_Couzens and others tweets on this…
My eureka moment was this week breaking the hour for a 21mile TT, which I hadn’t done for 7 years and when I’d only gone out to ride it easy…did it on 5 bpm less than 7 years ago…1/2

@Alan_Couzens @NeilDrouetPT In an experienced athlete though?! Are you saying his improvement will be short lived and unsustainable unless he attends to his aerobic base?
@SciTriat Interesting listen, thanks Mikael. I decided to try Scott’s nose breathing aerobic threshold test and found my scores came out about 10 bpm higher than I’ve been using to date i.e @jfriel’s LTHR - 30bpm. Seems like a large, and to me surprising, discrepancy. Any thoughts…?
First proper interval session last night…felt good…think it was a return to fitness but might have been my fabulous new #brooks ghosts from @RUN_Store very pleased with them…thank you Kurt, and for the recovery advice!
I messaged @jfriel a few days ago to see if he had any insight into return to training post-covid. Apparently I was the first person to contact him about this so he tweeted a call out and was inundated with feedback...

Grateful to @jfriel (author of seminal triathlon training manuals) for starting this thread. If any of you have experiences you wish to share with him please do comment on his thread.
@jfriel Thanks so much for starting this thread Joe. I’m a month after Covid and struggling big time with elevated heart rate from pace/power effort levels in Z1 to Z2. I suspect easy patience will be the watch words for a while…🙏
