Today, I had the distinct honor of officiating the opening ceremony for the orientation of our newly elected National Youth Council (NYC) Executive Committee members , hosted at the UNICEF offices in Mbuya.
Driven by the powerful theme, “Strengthening Leadership, Policy Implementation and Advocacy for Adolescents and Youth,” this milestone officially ignites a bold new era of accountable, transformative youth governance. In my charge to the incoming executive team, I challenged them to execute their statutory mandate with absolute integrity, unity, and unwavering purpose, championing the dreams and aspirations of every young person across our nation.
A massive thank you to @UNICEFUganda for being exceptional partners, opening their doors to us, and providing a phenomenal launchpad for this critical journey. 🇺🇳🤝
With the combined, unstoppable force of the Department of Youth, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, and our dedicated development partners, I am entirely confident that this team will breathe life into our theme
"Young people should play an active role in monitoring the implementation of development programs to ensure transparency and accountability. It's important that the funds provided reach the intended beneficiaries and are used effectively."~Pimer Sylvia

Our children need to turn up and be better, how do we get young people to open up to us? It turns out that our homes are no longer a safe place for children but rather schools.

Ms Primer Sylvia the Youth Coordinator @Mglsd_UG echoes the need for policy makers to come up with interventions to empower young people economically; for major SRHR related issues all rise from poverty & if not mitigated shall continue to suffice.

"Surveys have shown us that home environments are not as safe as we though they are. We need to start from the foundations to create grounded growth and safety for young people."

"We need to realise that statistics are not just numbers but actually people. This calls us to remember the humanity behind the suffering and the need to work for change."
