Guillermo del Toro tells young directors they should not listen when “people tell you art is not important,” because that is “always a prelude to fascism.”
“Be kind, be involved, believe in your art. At a time when people tell you art is not important, that is always a prelude to fascism. They think they can debase everything that makes us a little better, a little more human. And that, in my book, and in my life, includes monsters," @RealGDT said.

The Fourth Army Area has mobilized helicopters and personnel to assist residents affected by severe flooding in Hat Yai and surrounding areas.
On November 26, the army conducted aerial surveys of key routes and delivered urgent supplies, including food and drinking water, to Hat Yai Municipality, Municipal School 2 (Ban Hat Yai), Tha Sae area, and a construction workers’ camp.
The operation, supported by 212 aircraft from the Second Army Area, is ongoing, with troops working around the clock to provide relief and ensure access to isolated communities.

Hat Yai Flood Relief: How to Help Affected Communities
As southern Thailand continues to grapple with severe flooding, authorities are urging those wishing to help to donate funds or essential items through trusted channels to ensure aid reaches those in need efficiently.
Monetary Donations
Donating money remains the fastest and most effective way to provide urgent assistance. Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai campus, serves as the main coordination center for relief operations.
Updated PSU Donation Account:
The previous donation account can no longer accommodate all transactions. Donors are kindly requested to make contributions only through the Prince of Songkla University account provided via the QR code. PSU apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
For inquiries, contact Miss Yaowalak Kunaworakul at (+66) 87287-8713.
Prince of Songkla University Hospital Foundation also accepts donations to support patients and emergency cases:
- Bangkok Bank, PSU branch – 641-0-15655-5
- Siam Commercial Bank, PSU branch – 565-2-09777-0
Goods Donations in Bangkok
For those wishing to donate clothing, household items, or pet supplies, several Bangkok organizations are collecting goods for transport to flood-affected areas once flooding recedes:
- Mirror Foundation: Accepts clothing, electrical appliances, and other items for post-flood recovery. Address: 191 Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 62 (Intersection 4–7), Laksi District, Bangkok. Phone: 061-909-1840.
- Thai Red Cross Society: Accepts blood donations and monetary contributions for survival kits. Location: Henri Dunant Road, Pathumwan District, Bangkok (near MRT Sam Yan / BTS Sala Daeng).
- The Voice Foundation (For Animal Lovers): Collects funds and supplies for pets stranded in flood-affected areas. Location: The Season Mall, 3rd Floor, Room 304, Phahonyothin Road, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok.
Recommendation:
For immediate impact, monetary donations to PSU Hat Yai remain the most efficient way to provide relief. For clothing or household items, donors should package them securely in black bags and deliver them to the Mirror Foundation, which will coordinate transport for post-flood recovery efforts.

Today, 7 million people came out to protest Trump at 2,700 different locations.
This is now officially the largest protest in American history.
America will not go quietly.
This is heartbreaking. RIP Dr. Goodall, thank you for your tireless work advocating for wildlife and the planet. You've inspired so many people around the world and your legacy will live on through them. ❤️
BREAKING: Jane Goodall, a scientist and global activist who turned her childhood love of primates into a lifelong quest for protecting the environment, died at the age of 91, the institute she founded said https://t.co/PJJP8SD2eQ
On the night of September 5, pro-democracy activists staged a symbolic protest in front of the People’s Party headquarters following the party’s vote to back Anutin Charnvirakul as Thailand’s 32nd prime minister.
They carried signs reading “A shadow is spreading over Thailand,” “Democracy is being consumed,” and “Rats — a symbol of disaster — in the form of elite Count Orlok.” The reference to Count Orlok, the grotesque, rat-like vampire from the 1922 film Nosferatu, symbolized predatory elites undermining democracy. Other signs questioned the credibility of political promises: “How can we trust that the House will actually be dissolved in four months? Time will tell — if the promise is kept, fine. But if not, who will take responsibility for the political damage?”
Although the activists hold no formal political power, they highlighted the ongoing repression of pro-democracy voices. In less than a week, seven activists were imprisoned, reflecting what they see as a hostile environment for political dissent. They stressed that if political commitments are not fulfilled, there must still be a path to amend the constitution across all chapters and sections and to include people charged with lese-majeste in any amnesty discussions.
The group urged political parties to halt or drop new political prosecutions, ensure any amnesty covers people charged with lese-majeste, and restore bail rights for those facing political charges, framing these measures as urgent steps to protect democratic space and civil liberties.
