@Chenge_B_87@M_Jay94 FIA takes motor sporting facilities very seriously. For them to approve designs it takes a lot of design simulations and proposed work scrutiny. On this one FIA has put a former F1 race director to oversee works should gvt green lights the project.
@pm1myo@M_Jay94 โฆthe High Court stopped the project. The investors are still trying to engage all the state holders. A lot of money has already been sunk into this venture and the surrounding communities are already benefiting.
@Chenge_B_87@M_Jay94 The project prepared an EIA report which was approved by EMA in 2019. I totally agree that the project could not 100% cover every environmental unhappiness/upset, however it is believed the key aspects were addressed. Projects of this nature always come with a lot of complexity.
@M_Jay94 8. The nearest existing homestead is located more than 6km away and more than 40m high in terms of altitude and is therefore not expected to be significantly affected by any noises from the racecourse. Field tests done have confirmed this assessment.
@M_Jay94 6. It is believed the majority of the community members are supportive of the project. The courts noted that there is only one litigant in the matter.
7. The project is not expected to be a white elephant as it intends running recreational motor sports in btwn scheduled races.
@M_Jay94 5. No human settlements are going to be displaced by the project as it is located more than 6km from the neatest existing homestead in an area habited by commercial safari lodges and proposed hotels. The area is already commercial in outlook and the gvt intends setting up a SEZ
@M_Jay94 3. The project would host the first F1 Circuit, NASCAR Circuit and Standard Quarter Mile Drag strip in Sub-Saharan Africa
4. The development will not interfere with any wildlife corridors as it is sandwiched between communal settlements and the Zambezi River
@Chenge_B_87@M_Jay94 The project is located 33 kilometers east of the Vic Falls and far away from any animal corridors. Itโs also strategically located in an escapement which means it would have localized noise levels
@MapikoTh@Rutsoka_ The project is approximately 20kms from the nearest game park and well known animal corridors accessing the Zambezi River. Noise levels on site are not going to reach or stress animals at national parks or game corridors.
Zambezi River International Circuit aka Victoria Falls Grand Prix designed by Driven International (UK). This development is steadily taking shape though facing a number of challenges as is common to major developments of such magnitude!
@Chaurura@Rutsoka_ Itโs located near Rapid 25/Open season and the closest villages would be Cannan and Jembwe Villages. Thatโs approx 13kms after Gorges Lodge
@Rutsoka_ The projectโs design and architecture is toned down to reflect the natural environment. The architecture screens conservation and co-existence with the natural beauty of the Batoka Gorges
