I really love the movie, “Papillon.”
Why do I love it so much? Because it’s a film that embodies an “indomitable spirit” that never gives up.
Throughout my life, I’ve had many moments when I almost broke down. Whenever that happened, I always rewatched this movie.
To me, "Papillon" isn't just a "Butterfly" blowing in the wind. It is a "Phoenix" that continues to flap its wings for freedom.
If you are wishing for some kind of “escape” from now, I won’t tell you to “hang in there,” but I do want you to watch “Papillon.”

I had originally planned to write one more essay to close out the year, but instead, I decided to watch a movie. I found a movie I’d been meaning to see on U-NEXT: the German film "System Crasher" (2019), which was released in Japan this year.

It was an intense and harrowing experience. Utterly heartbreaking. No one is saved. No one is protected. It left me with a lot to think about on New Year’s Eve. The Blu-ray seems to already be available as well.

Happy New Year! 🎍 As we step into the Year of the Snake in 2025, I look forward to your continued support. This year will be a pivotal one, with the release of DS2 on the horizon. Production for OD is also expected to ramp up after the strike, with filming and scanning in full swing. We’ll also return to the casting and development for the PHYSINT project too.

At the same time, we’ll be progressing with the film adaptation of DS (in collaboration with A24) and other screen adaptations. In January and February, the Death Stranding Exhibition will be held at PARCO in Nagoya and Osaka. International business trips, which had been on hold, are likely to increase as well.

Toward the end of the year, we’ll celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions. We’re planning various events leading up to this milestone.

All in all, this year marks an important chapter in the “second phase” of Kojima Productions. Your continued support means everything to us. Thank you as always! 🙇🏻🎍
