Today marks 50 years. We remember Leyla Qasim, a Feyli Kurd from Xaniqîn who was the first female executed in Iraq, and fourth in the world for political activism. Often regarded as ‘The Bride of Kurdistan’ for her choice to wear a Kurdish dress on her execution day, Leyla was hanged in Baghdad at the age of 22 on 12th May, 1974. #KurdishWomen
