@SPENCESOTELO Airline pilot here. The mics aren't terribly high quality, everyone sounds the same. Also when making the announcements we can't really have too much fun with it from a customer service perspective, you have to be boring and monotone otherwise people get nervous
@aviatorwriting I remember in PIT a particular gate agent had a counter on their iPad limiting the plane to 30 carry on bags before the rest had to be gate checked. On a 738. Like wtf it's not a crj. Lots of upset pax and half empty overheads on that flight.
@HamNCheddar F the TSA, I still feel bad cutting the line in uniform when I get randomed but usually people are understanding that they aren't going anywhere without us
@JTTsteve Unfortunately I agree. Doesn't matter how much we don't want it to happen. It will significantly reduce airlines costs and therefore it will happen. We saw w/ the MAX human lives are expendable when it comes to profit, this too will have consequences but it will make more $$$
@MenTourPilot At the end of the day airlines are major corporations that don't care about their employees. They are always going to find ways to make us less expensive and getting rid of us is on the table. Our unions will need to work really hard to make pilots a necessity in the future.
@MenTourPilot But for now imo we have to walk the line between too little and too many pilots. The US market is tough and we don't have nearly as many of the benefits of labor laws that Europe has. Weirdly enough we do need some sort of shortage to keep the jobs valuable.
