There is an illustrative anecdote from the District Court of Anantapur, Madras Presidency, where Judge A.S.P. Iyer famously dismissed a lawyer's defense that chicory was an acceptable adulterant for coffee. The defense counsel argued that because chicory is superior in taste and quality, the coffee wasn't truly adulterated. Justice Iyer shut down the argument with the memorable counter: "Mr. Grant, in cases of 'adulteration' and 'adultery', the plea that the substitute is better than the original is not valid."
China manufactures
89% of the world’s solar panels, 70% of the world’s wind turbines, 83% of the world’s batteries, and 75% of the world’s electric vehicles among other things
The problem. No concept of ROE
From 2021 to 2025, Chinese corporate profits CAGR -3.99%.
Industrial profits contracted from 8.71 trillion yuan in 2021 to 7.40 trillion yuan i.e. around 16-17% decline over 5 years.
ROE of corporate sector ~7-8%
ROE in India 16-17%
ROE Avg S&P 500 15-16%
It's very important to prevent backdoor entry of state subsidized Chinese Corporates into India.
@lakshaymehta08@gurgaonpolice scrap their licenses and vehicle . Then only such incidents will stop . @NayabSainiBJP if you are genuinely concerned unless phone calls have already gone to you for their release
@lakshaymehta08 Unless you start scrapping cars for this type of brutal road-rage incidents or publicly parade the them in the same locality where they live and post that same video on social media, this is never going to stop.

So why would these people bother about your NEET paper leak or the CBSE scam?
Bernstein just wrote an open letter to India's Prime Minister — and it is asking some hard questions. (23rd April India Strategy note) 👇
1/ The employment question is existential, not cyclical - India's 10–15 million strong IT/BPO workforce — the backbone of the aspirational middle class — is directly in Gen AI's crosshairs. Manufacturing can't absorb the slack at current trajectory. The real question: does the next growth leg create engineers and product builders, or mostly drivers and delivery staff?
2/ Agriculture is stuck in a 1970s policy loop 42–45% of the workforce. 15–16% of GDP. - Below 1-hectare average holdings. Monsoon-dependent farming. Loan waivers instead of reform. The farm laws rollback made things harder, not less necessary. Rs 3–4 trillion in annual input subsidies need to shift toward post-procurement income transfers — and cold storage/logistics investment is not optional anymore.
3/ India risks becoming a permanent AI consumer, not a creator - Data centers are not a strategy. India doesn't own a single frontier AI model. If Indian data keeps training US and Chinese models while domestic capability goes unbuilt, the IT services sector hollows out with nothing to replace it. Bernstein's ask: fund domestic foundation models, build compute capacity, and push global AI companies to list in India — sharing value with the public.
4/ Manufacturing ambition keeps outrunning manufacturing depth - PLI created momentum, but the share of manufacturing in GDP is still stuck at 16–17%. Even in EVs, battery cells — 30–40% of cost — are largely imported from China. The pattern of late entry into industries after global supply chains are already formed needs to break. The next bet must be placed before the race is lost — automation, robotics, advanced materials, AI-integrated manufacturing.
5/ Cash transfer schemes are quietly crowding out capex - Women-only cash transfers across a dozen-plus states now total Rs 1.7–2.5 trillion annually — roughly 0.5% of GDP — and rising. In some states, these schemes absorb 2–3% of GSDP, squeezing infrastructure budgets. Bernstein isn't saying scrap them — targeted support has a role. But election-synchronised, unconditional, permanent transfers risk locking India into a low-productivity equilibrium where taxes fund today's consumption instead of tomorrow's capabilities.
6/ R&D spend of 0.6–0.7% of GDP is not a serious number for a country with semiconductor ambitions Merit-diluting reservation policies are hollowing out research institutions. Without fixing the talent pipeline and funding base, aspirations in AI, deep tech and semiconductors remain exactly that — aspirations.
Bernstein's closing line: "India does not lack capital, talent, or ambition. What it requires now is a sharper willingness to take difficult decisions early, rather than defer them. The window to act is still open, but it is narrowing."

Given that oil price is the biggest impact India and many other countries are facing today because of the war, a coordinated effort to reduce fuel usage may help reduce major impact. During COVID the world went into a complete shut down and oil prices had dropped to below $20 and futures had crashed to -$37 in April 2020. Maybe we can introduce partial work from home and keep industrial activities open, and I am sure this itself (if done globally) will help correct oil prices significantly. For India will help our trade deficit as well as lower pressure on our currency in addition to lowering input costs for many industries thereby reducing impact on profitability. COVID helped us develop and test technologies and platforms that made work from home easy and this may be a very good time to use them until war uncertainties remain. @narendramodi@nitin_gadkari@nsitharaman
@EkanshMittal_KW The quantity relative to existing holding matters as much as who. A promoter buying 500 shares on a 500 Cr holding is noise. A director buying 50 lakh on a 2 Cr salary is a genuine conviction signal. For ex - Som D Promoter buying 10L worth from open market few times recently.
My Demand: Make Long Term Capital Gain TAX on Equities NIL for individual investor.
I welcome the hike in STT (security transaction tax) on derivatives as it can curb reckless speculation. Nearly 90% of retail investors lose money in F&O, turning markets into gambling.
When STT was originally introduced, LTCG was zero. But now with both STT and LTCG in place, investors are disincentivised.
I urge the govt to abolish LTCG on equities for individuals, as done in Switzerland, Singapore, UAE & others. This will boost household wealth, reduce speculation, and shift savings from gold & real estate into equities.
One easy solution to address capital outflows and INR depreciation is to make LTCG 7.5%
Foreign outflows will reverse
INR depreciation will reverse
Liquidity will improve and monetary policy will fully play out
Revenue loss will be marginal
However @FinMinIndia is sleeping so our expectations should be zero
Today is the Bestest day ever of my entire life!
Years ago, I would come back from office and ask my daughters how their day went. The older one, already in school would tell me in great detail from the moment I dropped her to the school bus to everything that happened subsequently. The younger one with an angelic smile would jump into my lap, hug me tight, look into my eyes excitedly and say, “Today was the bestest day ever of my entire life!” Bestest day in her entire long life of 2 years!
One day she had an extremely bad fall. We rushed her to the hospital and she cried buckets. After she got her dressing done, we took her out to watch a movie, ate popcorn, sugar candy, ice creams. That evening, all of us went to the beach and we made sand castles and shared stories of the King and how he defended an attack. Later, she took glee jumping on the castle as the King had turned bad on his subjects and she was the saviour removing the King and restoring happiness to the population.
We came back home and without warning she came running from behind jumped up my back with both bandaged hands on my neck, kissed me and said, “Today was the bestest day ever in my entire life.”
It was then that the penny dropped. The bleeding, hospital, injection, pain and tears of that morning were all forgotten and what was retained was the nicer parts of the day that wouldn’t have happened if the earlier part had not happened!
As adults, we do the reverse. If something bad has happened, we will ruin the rest of the day by refusing to stop ruminating over what happened.
We all have friends who have a great sense of humour. They say something that makes us laugh. Then we find them repeating it at some other party and we don't even smile. The question is, if we don’t laugh at the same joke twice, why do we cry at the same thing repeatedly!
-Anonymous.
(Why does the colour of life get lost with time? A joyous life is reduced to mundane. There were mornings we woke up with laughter and now evening arrives without so much as a smile all day).
The day we realise that we are not what happens to us. In the rollercoaster that life spins us in, we can choose to be at our centre. I am not what happens to me, good and bad events happen to all.
Zen says when the student is ready, the master appears. My two year old master taught me an incredible lesson. Today should always be the bestest day of our entire life. Everyday. It’s a decision we make. It has nothing to do with what’s happened in the day.
Say it loudly with a twinkle in your eye and laughter in your voice every night before you sleep. Not with empty words but with true belief for the day wasn’t ours by right. It's a gift.
Can you imagine how our gift giver must be feeling-I gave this fool so much and he is whining about a flat tyre on his way to work!

On the last budget day, 01.02.2025, @nsitharaman decided to launch a frontal attack on foreign investment in Indian Capital market by skillfully increasing LTCG tax to 12.5% and STCG to 20% with threat of increasing LTCG further to equate with STCG.
All hell broke loose in Feb2025, with FIIs selling massive Rs.59,000Cr post budget speach. Next few months there was small greens and then from JULY (the month LTCG became effective after the budget speach) , there has been relentless flight of capital from India.
Assuming FM is a great economist and that is why she was given the job, why would she damage, the goodwill people had on the PM? How has her action helped the Govt?
Has she managed to increase CG tax collection massively? OR HAS THE TAX COLLECTION FALLEN??
What about collateral damage to the economy caused by her actions?

Shame NDRF , Shame Fire Dept , Shame on authorities , you couldn’t save a young kid ! I wonder why your departments even exist if you could not do a basic job for which you train your entire life with tax payers money ! Bravo that Flip-cart Delivery guy who tried ! @PMOIndia ! @

Something strange is happening in India's stock markets
In 2025, 63% IPO money raised didn't go to companies, but went to promoters and private equity
And this is not by accident, I spent weeks digging SEBI filings to understand how IPOs are rigged, here's what I found

As someone who lives in India it is sometimes demoralising to see low level Bereaucrats and operators create generational wealth out of the exorbitant taxes you pay after working hard, travelling over non existent roads, breathing bad air and tolerating all the traffic, dust and squalor.
The same exorbitant taxes which will never allow you to build that kind of generational wealth ever.
A person who has spent years in jail for serious crimes can become an MLA, MP, CM or even PM.
But a common man who has spent even one day in jail can get blacklisted in job market & society.
