Often trauma will leave you believing in absolutes.
Swinging the proverbial pendulum all the way to the opposite direction.
It's good to remind yourself that the absolute opposite of your experience is not the solution.
It's just a shortcut to a solution.
Extending grace is a powerful tool.
It is understanding and accepting people for who they are.
Without resistance..
And then acting accordingly. Issuing roles and setting boundaries.
As you heal your inner child..
Remind him/her
1. It is not your fault when other people have emotional reactions.
2. It is not your responsibility to fix people's dysregulation..
3. You have the ability to regulate yourself (YOU ARE POWERFUL).
Post trauma healing may feel slow, and unremarkable.
Your nervous system has been revved up for a while and as it recalibrates itself it will be quiet.
But there's hope, after it heals it will begin to learn to respond to pleasure and joy.
Healing and Time are partners.
Couples need to laugh together.
Laugh at each other.
Laugh at life.
Laugh to keep from crying.
Laughter can never be underrated.
A connected partnership should contain joy. From the spectrum of subtle smiles to uncontrollable bouts of laughter.
What deters me from gossip.
Think 🤔 about it.
If you really don't like the person you are speaking on, you have no respect for who they are.
Why waste your energy on them?
I believe it's about self respect and energy conservation ☺️
Romaticize your life.
Do the things you enjoy.
Spend some time daydreaming.
Invest into the life you desire.
Take a couple of chances, like the main character you are for your life.
You have to set your standards for joy, partnership, success, beauty and anything else you hold dear.
If you don't.
You will never reach the mark.
The world keeps pushing the bar higher and higher.
My goal with my mental health is to be in constant improvement of my un-offendability.
Such that I let people be themselves. And I glow in my energy and vibes whether they align or don't align with the energy they bring.
This is EMPOWERMENT
Mental health and Success go hand in hand.
But it's important to clarify what success looks like to you and not to follow some universal idea of what that looks like.
One clue to get started is to take time to notice the things that make you genuinely happy.
@GacheriNdumba Your Counselor is not giving instructions on life. Or at least they should not. They should work with your unique life needs. A good therapist will work with a step by step approach to every decision you make in the sessions. Being left unequipped is disempowering.
I wish for everyone in their healing journey. That incredible moment when you look back at the things that have been done to you, & the things that you did, due to the lack of knowledge & safety that you own NOW; &smile because no more guilt exists between you and your past.
In connection, in communication. Clarification is a MUST.
Ask if what you said has been understood. And ask it to be repeated back.
And ask before you make assumptions about sensation and intention.
ASK. ASK. ASK
If your motivation is to elicit a specific response from another person, whether good /bad; your actions covert / overt. It's all manipulation.
We are all imprinted with a need for control.True power and freedom is by regulation of self for the purpose of peace, joy and success
