The Eagle has landed 🦅🇺🇸
#OTD 57 Years Ago: Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the Moon, marking the first human foot on another world. A total of 12 humans have walked on the Moon. With the Artemis Program, NASA is sending humans back to the Moon, this time to stay.
Send your name a million miles from Earth.
NASA’s Roman Telescope is headed to Lagrange Point 2, a spot where gravity balances just right, giving spacecraft a steady, unobstructed view of the universe.

Today is Primary Election Day... and elections have consequences. Montgomery County just announced that it is reducing planned security investments at a time when our schools need more safety support, not less. This is a mistake. Last night, I spoke with @wusa9 and @RHildreth_TV about how this imporant issue directly affects Rockville families and families throughout Montgomery County.
This past year, our community experienced a shooting at Wootton High School. That should have been a warning bell for everyone. If that was not enough to make school safety an urgent priority, then what is? We cannot say student safety is a top priority and then cut the very leadership and resources needed to strengthen school security. Our schools need trained safety professionals, stronger coordination with law enforcement, secure facilities, emergency preparedness, and real accountability.
We also need to bring back School Resource Officers in MCPS as part of a broader, responsible school safety strategy. This is not about politics. It is about protecting students, teachers, staff, and families. MCPS and County leaders need to reverse course and treat school safety with the urgency it deserves. Our children must be safe in school.

🦅 Happy National Eagle Day!
Today we celebrate with Kennedy’s resident family of bald eagles – two adults and two fuzzy eaglets – who spent this spring thriving in the wildlife refuge at America’s premier multi‑user spaceport.
National Eagle Day is celebrated annually on June 20 to honor the bald eagle, the United States’ national symbol, and to promote its conservation.

@SmPotatoes The purple line was slated to be complete before end of 2022 when our son started at UMD. We thought great - easy way to get him home for visits. He just graduated and it’s still delayed. The math isn’t mathing!! 🙄🙄
Virginia Tech has received its largest commitment ever. 🙌
The unprecedented, $75 million in support will advance the university’s ambitious athletics strategy and expand one of its most innovative academic programs.

Ironic that MCPS is whining over not getting $13mm to improve the condition of their warehouse but they continue to defer maintenance on schools like Damascus, Magruder and Wootton.
School maintenance should always come before new warehouses.
Dedicated on October 12, 1952, our @ChapelUMD honors members of the UMD community who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
This #MemorialDay, we honor and remember all who have given their lives in service to our nation. 🇺🇸
