@caryndolley Do you have a source where I can get hold of an epub for reading on an e-reader besides Amazon's Kindle? Amazon attempts to lock one in to their proprietary format.

@atkinsmike1 In 2019, Al Jama-ah won a seat with 31,468. This matches your ~60,000. What about independents? Zackie Achmat's site says "Zackie needs 86 000 votes to win a seat in Parliament". Even reducing to 60,000, he has to get this from a single regional ballot only, which is ludicrous.
Today might have seen the biggest physics discovery of my lifetime. I don't think people fully grasp the implications of an ambient temperature / pressure superconductor. Here's how it could totally change our lives.
@rehomingcarlos@CherylBlom@MultiCoalition I believe it's 2 members from outside the National Assembly, not two members from other political parties:

Happy to see more police than protesters at Dudula's appearance in Mouille Point. Interesting to see Dudula on their Twitter account also supportive of the UK fascist group Britain First, who claim the term "racism" was "invented by a communist mass murderer"
So I think @zulip is the solution for all the problems I've got with free Slack for the community orgs I work with.
The problems with free Slack:
- Only 90 days message history
- The more channels you have, the worse it is.
- Thread discover is shit.
And Zulip solves all that.
Last week we launched our audit tracker. It has the audit opinions on every South African municipality since 2010: https://t.co/VRa9tMjRRW
Mamusa Local Municipality in North West got disclaimed audits (the worst opinion) for 11 years in a row. Fortunately, it's the only one.
I found this entertaining presentation, Legacy Cities, on an instance of the extinct elephant site that Twitter does not permit to be named: https://t.co/XrjdowfJTa Perhaps @urbanjodi and other urbanists will enjoy
@NewStreetsSA Cape Town used to have trams (my great grandfather was apparently involved in setting them up), but would be a tough ask to bring them back: https://t.co/MyAldsv2qW
@gussilber Personally I find it far more satisfying. If Mastodon is heaven, Twitter is Hades. Give me some calm conversation rather than the constant shrieking of thousands of creatures from the underworld. https://t.co/GNVDKpEKoG is a decent guide, especially around Twitter differences.
