Perhaps the most beautiful part of Bar Salubong is realizing that the person who took the Bar was never the only one who waited for this moment. Families prayed. Friends stayed. Mentors believed. And suddenly, all those years of sacrifice feel real. ⚖️✨
Self-doubt may tell you that you are not ready or this is the farthest you could go. Before believing it, remember how much of yourself you have already invested to get here.
You did not come this far because everything was easy or because you were always confident. You came this far because, many times before, you continued even when you were unsure.
Do that again today.
You are allowed to be afraid. You are allowed to doubt. But neither fear nor doubt gets the final vote.
Love seeing a well-spoken government official, representing the country well, forwarding the interest of the country, and standing up against transgressors of international law.
This is the level of class and eloquence we should expect from high-ranking government officials.
Kahit ang mga abogado ngayon, minsan ding kinabahan bago mag-bar exam.
Kinabahan hindi dahil hindi sila handa; kinabahan kasi alam nilang mahalaga. Kaya nilaban.
LABAN LANG.
I understand the anxiety of Bar examinees over the publication of their names. Not everyone wants the added pressure of the public knowing that they are taking the Bar.
But admission to the legal profession is not an entirely private undertaking. Rule 138 requires the publication of qualified applicants for a reason: admission to the Bar is imbued with public interest, and the process must allow transparency on matters affecting an applicant’s fitness to become a lawyer.
We may question a rule, disagree with it, or advocate for its amendment. But while it remains the rule, those who aspire to become lawyers must also learn to respect it.
To the 2026 Bar examinees: acknowledge the pressure, then move past it.
Your name is already on the list of examinees. Now, continue working on putting it on the next one—the list of passers.
May the pressure of being seen never become heavier than the purpose that brought you this far.
Not all acts to unalive oneself need a point person to blame, so I hope we refrain from pointing fingers. It’s unfortunate that it happens, but that does not mean that anger shall be directed at someone. And if there is really someone to blame, who even are we to say who’s who?
