Dear @wesstreeting
On behalf of all 🇬🇧 doctors who are currently abroad & deciding whether to return, as well as those who are in the process of leaving…
1. Make us want to stay
2. Make us want to come back
The #NHS is *not* broken, it was built this way
It needs foundational changes to recruit & retain

@drphilhammond@wesstreeting@bmj_latest Make more training places in specialist areas to keep these brilliant doctors in the country. Lots are leaving or treading water. The bottleneck needs widening. It’s obvious.
@AllisonPearson There needs to be more specialist training places available for junior docs. There is a bottleneck. Why does nobody talk about this? Drs are leaving because of it. @wesstreeting@Nigel_Farage@RishiSunak
When I need to call out a plumber I’m grateful to pay £40/h because I don’t have the first clue how to fix my boiler, or the skills to fix a burst pipe
Doctors are asking for half of that, to fix your kids
In life we get the health services we pay for
@AllisonPearson This is because absolutely none of the people in charge are listening. What is wrong with them? Make more training places for Junior Doctors and use tech to stop sending pointless waste of time appointment letters by post for a start.
@wesstreeting If you only do one thing…Please please please sort out the training places for junior doctors. There are thousands of BRILLIANT Doctors who want to progress but can’t as there are not enough places. No one is listening - will you?
@DrSteveTaylor This man speaks perfect sense. Most of the comments below refer to GP’s. Junior Doctors are not GP’s and if they want to train to be a GP they can’t as, guess what, there are not enough training places. Same for emergency medicine, anaesthetists etc. it has to change.
