I spent 47 days as one of several thousand African migrants seeking to enter Europe through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea.
Story on @fijnigeria tomorrow, Thursday and on Friday.
Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come.
Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome.
I have this pattern and I’m honestly tired of it.
In the moment, if someone says something slightly insulting or passive aggressive, I either laugh it off or ignore it. I don’t react. But later… it hits me. I replay the conversation and think, “Why did they say that?” and “I should’ve said something.”
By then it’s too late, and I just sit with that irritation.
I don’t want to become rude or aggressive, but I do want to be able to respond in a playful but sharp way, something that makes the other person pause and think twice before saying things like that again.
Right now I either say nothing or overthink it later. I want to learn how to respond in the moment without freezing or second-guessing myself.
