I don't want an "outsider." I don't want things to be "shaken up." I want a government of boring policy nerds doing their best to implement practical solutions and work towards the greater good. That's all, man. That's fucking all.
Dear @Target - if you're gonna understaff your stores (during back to school season!) you should maybe have more than 4 self checkout stations. Just a thought.

Like many other ADHDers I find that high-stress situations sometimes lock my brain into focus. I excelled at exams at school. I am great in a crisis.
But like… it should be obvious that
“Be in high-stress situations where you have to focus 122%” is not workable long term.
The following is a MAJOR misconception parents/adults have about kids with #ADHD
Adult: I know this kid really well, and you’re wrong about them. It’s not just that ADHD won’t let them do what they’re asked. That’s just an excuse. They’re actually *choosing* not to.
Me: Oh?/1
At baseline, ADHD kids have EXTREMELY LOW executive function, which is the ability to execute tasks.
They literally can’t just “choose” to do what you ask them to do.
They aren’t lying to you.
They aren’t manipulating you.
And it’s anything BUT “convenient.”/9
Inside every woman is two wolves. One wolf want long gorgeous mermaid hair. The second wolf wants to just chop it all off. There is also a crow pulling the tails of both wolves saying to get bangs. The crow is the most dangerous.
Or, why ADHD drugs need to be de-scheduled.
Write your Congress Critters.
(It’s long been suspected that ADHD is related to other disorders of dopamine, such as Parkinsons & Alzh.)

The next time you step over the laundry or encounter a pile of miscellaneous stuff you “should” have put away, take a deep breath.
It’s not you. None of this is about you. It’s hard to be a human with ADHD. It’s okay to not have a perfect system, a perfect home, a perfect life.
Messiness is not a moral failing. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. It means you have some factors making household tasks difficult for you, and once you know those factors, you can incorporate them into your solution.
I’m not offended or hurt by it, it’s just confusing to me that people think billion dollar corporations or the White House would let an intern communicate, unchecked, to millions of people. Use your brains!
yes, the news is bleak… but every day there are people flirting and falling in love and eating freshly plucked raspberries and following catprints through a light dusting of snow, and a glory that shines in all things.
