TruffleRuby 19.3.1 is released 🚀 and available on ruby-install, ruby-build, RVM and https://t.co/KDziUacpdw.
This security release fixes a few CVEs by updating to Ruby 2.6.5 and adds support for the latest json 2.3.0 gem.
TruffleRuby 19.3.0 is now released 🚀 and available on ruby-install, ruby-build and RVM, improving compatibility with Rails and C extensions by including an LLVM toolchain producing both native code and bitcode!
@ChrisGSeaton@Shopify Indeed, there are new opportunities in the growing TruffleRuby team and if are you interested to work on an innovative high-performance #Ruby implementation, please contact us via DM. We also hire remote.
@headius @claudiuinberlin @TruffleRuby I think it is unlikely that the tool will ever be OSS, it is tight to our infrastructure. However, it would be interesting to cooperate on the part which is responsible for running tests of any given gem. Ideally, the test run definition would become part of the gemspec file.
Did you know that @TruffleRuby significantly improved compatibility with C-extensions? Basically, they should all just work! If not please file an issue https://t.co/9vJ2E7PdIp. Watch https://t.co/vnBDtUh4lV and learn how we did it. We are improving performance at the moment.
@claudiuinberlin @TruffleRuby The overall numbers are, 771 gems out of the thousand of gems are successfully running their test suites in our tool. Rails framework is not one of those yet. 640 gems pass more than 95% and 441 passes 100% of their tests.
One of the features TruffleRuby brings to Ruby that's not related to performance is debugging Ruby and C extensions together. Step from Ruby to C, look at Ruby local variables, C local variables, breakpoints, etc all in the same UI. Work by @JKreindl et al https://t.co/BZ9iZxFeC1

Today @GraalVM has released 19.0 and become an Oracle product with the Enterprise Edition - @TruffleRuby is still experimental at the moment but it shows how big the investment from Oracle is and how far the tech is going to go.
Introducing: GraalVM Enterprise Edition. A virtual machine ideal for #cloud and #hybrid environments. Start services up to 100X faster and reduce memory usage up to 5X by compiling programs and rearranging #code. See for yourself here: https://t.co/IhDfKewKfJ
